When your liver is inflamed, it will cause your liver enzymes to be elevated. That's probably what happened. He retested, which is what he should have done to see if it wasn't an error, or to see if the problem is still there. Since it is, he is now going to check to see if the liver has anything detectable by ultrasound. He should do a screening for hepatitis A, B, and C (if he hasn't done that already). Elevated liver enzymes are often the first symptoms of a liver infection (also called hepatitis). There are many reasons the liver can become inflamed. The reason he won't tell you why is probably because he doesn't know what is causing it at this point. It often takes several tests or labwork to find the cause, then the doctor can give you advice on how to treat the cause. Best wishes to you.

It could be a range of things. I certainly know what you are going through. My husband has been going back and forth to doctors for five months now trying to figure out what is wrong with his liver. You might have had hepatitis at some time. You may have fatty liver disease, you may have cirrhosis, it may be an autoimmune disease. Good luck.

I don't know how old you are, but if you have liver problems you need to figure out what is causing them.. it could be serious or it might not be , but you won't know till the tests are done. And neither will he.

Go to another doctor. With something as important as your health ~ they should tell you what you need and want to know. If they do not answer your questions to your satisfaction ~ go to another doctor. It's your body and your right to know what is going on. Good Luck.

Who can say.
Maybe just a reaction to something you ate.
