Yes, I have done readings to close friends ALL over the world right from the comfort of my OWN desk. I just turn on my web cam and they can SEE the cards chosen for themselves.

If a Tarot reading is done well, it can be done long distance. During a reading, the querant (person asking the question) should be given time to respond and tell the reader if he or she is "on track" or not - in person or far away. Tarot isn't just a reader babbling to you about "what is" - the reader has to participate in the discussion in order to really get anything out of the cards. It is always better to help guide the querant into an understanding of the situation, whether than spoon-feeding the person a pre-packaged answer.
Tarot cards do not necessarily predict the future - they can help a person gain insight into his or her problem. It is no different than Art Therapy to me, really. I was a therapist for ten years and many of the same techniques used in all types of therapy are used in Tarot. It is all about gaining a better understanding of where you are in your life and where you might want to go - or where you don't want to go. Anything that can help a person gain insight into his or her situation is all good in my book.

Yes. I have done so many times. It takes lots of practice though, to flex those intuition muscles. Play with your cards every day to know them "inside out", and use your gut to "fill in the blanks", and you'll find yourself just as successful as if you were reading for someone sitting right across from you.
I do hope you are using the cards for insight rather than "fortune-telling" though... fortune-telling is never accurate, even in face-to-face readings, as our existence is not written in blood upon stones. We have choice, and that includes the choice to do nothing, so fortelling the future is pointless. Thus, fortune-telling is best relegated to parlor entertainments. But using the cards for guidance, insight, learning, symbolic wisdom, psychological support, soul expansion... now, that is worth reading from any distance. ;)

I do long distance readings all the time. I usually need to see a picture of the person, or talk to them for a bit but I don't have a problem with it.

Cards can be done by proxy without the person being near you by many ways, just the same as energy can be sent around the world.

yes. if you are having the person pick their cards then you'd just shuffle them and have the person tell you when to stop, and then whatever card you stopped at is their card.
