He must be lonely and hoping you will show him some compassion. Often the emotional mind doesn't think about things before doing them. Men often want want we can't have, and he can't have you, so he must want you very badly. I wouldn't put much faith in it.

Tell him its too little too late, and he missed his chance, life ain't like the movies where the guy calls the girl at 2 am before her wedding and she leaves her fiance for him, life is hard, and he can count this as a lesson learned the hard way.
