Well they lost so much weight because they were very overweight to begin with, and when you are very overweight, like 50 pounds or more, it becomes very easy to drop weight faster in terms of numbers of pounds. They have more fat to lose than someone else who may want to drop pounds. For example, if a 300 pound man wanted to lose 20 pounds, he could probably do it faster than a 150 pound person, and for the 150 pound person it may take them half a year, while the 300 pound person could do it in 3 weeks. It all boils down to the percentage of body fat someone has in combination with their weight. They also lose fat quicker, and then plateau. Also, the biggest loser show has their contestants exercise all the time, and eat good food all the time. They don't take anything. They just work hard at it.

It's unhealthy for normal people to lose more than 2 or 3 pounds a week. The people that are on the biggest loser are generally morbidly obese. Someone that is more than a 100 lbs overweight can lose much, much more than someone that is overweight or somewhat obese.

suggest a cleansing diet. I lost 12 pounds in 9 days and then 28 pounds in less than a month. I also lost a lot of inches too! I learned that cleansing will help the body get rid of impurities. Impurities come from a lot of things like fast food, pollution, food additives and preservatives and lots of other things. The impurities get stored in the fat in our body. To get rid of the fat, we have to get rid of the impurities by cleansing the body. This made sense to me and I decided to try a cleanse program and it worked. The weight came off fast and this kept me motivated to keep going, not like other diets where the weight loss it too slow. I did Jenny Craig, Weight Watcher and Medifast. If you want to learn more call the toll free number 1-877-587-4647 or check out the website. This was the first time I ever did a cleanse, it was easy and I feel better. Good luck whatever you decide to do! http://diet4cleansing.com

They were all extremely overweight. They were allowed to lose that much because their body mass was so large. If you weigh 250lbs plus there is no reason why 2-3 lbs a week isn't ideal. However, if you weigh 150lbs then the amount you are able to lose while being healthy is lowered.

when you are that much overweight,
losing quickly isn't as dangerous.
the fear of losing weight rapidly is the slowing down of the metabolism.
the contestants on the biggest loser are well overweight and consume between 2000-3000 calories a day.
the lowest diet calorie intake per day is a recommended 1200 for women.
when you cut 800-1800 calories per day to reach this 1,200, you will easily loose that many pounds rapidly.
if you're eating 1200 calories a day,
it doesn't matter how many pounds you loose per week, it's healthy.

Because they're like, super morbidly obese or whatever its called. Its really easy for them to loose weight. Like, for as much working out as thinner people would do to lose 5 pounds, they would lose more, like 10 pounds (just an estimate).

they are losing water weight, muscle, and a little fat with that. Your body can only lose about a pound a week to stay healthy. A good diet and exercise are the trick.

It's more than 6 weeks, and when you have that much weight to lose it is possible to lose a bit faster. The contestants are pre-screened for their health status and monitored closely throughout the competition.

because they were losing ALOT of weight by eating right. they were doing healthy things, things you are suppose to be doing when normally a thinner person that doesnt need to lose that much weight messes up by not eating or over working themselves, it was pretty much nothing to them to lose that weight.
