If so, can you quote me bible verses that say this etc.

In today's society, I really don't see anything wrong with it at all. I mean what does it matter if you're from a different race?

I think it's about that connection on a deeper level, and not your physcial appearance. But someone told me that Christians believe interracial couples are going to hell, or is this only applicable for some specific denomination of Christianity? I remember mormonism being mentioned, but am not sure, so would like clarification.

Why would God want to do that, it's not like they've actually "done" something sinful. They just love each other.

Thanks,
Sister in Christ

Hi Tinkerbell,
The only scripture in the New Testament that someone might misread as interracial is one about being "unequally yoked". This actually refers to a Christian and a non-Christian but I see nothing in the scriptures about it at all. We are all permitted to become Christians since Paul was an Apostle. Have a wonderful evening and a glorious LORD'S DAY!
Thank you,
Eds (Christian)

The only reason interracial marriage should be considered carefully is because of the difficulties a mixed-race couple may experience because others will have a hard time accepting them. Many interracial couples experience discrimination and ridicule, sometimes even from their own families. Some interracial couples experience difficulties when their children have skin tones of different shades from the parents and/or siblings. An interracial couple needs to take these things into consideration and be prepared for them, should they decide to marry. The only Biblical restriction placed on whom a Christian can marry is whether the other person is a member of the Body of Christ.

Tinkerbell,

Do you think the same argument applies to homosexuals. After all, what does it matter if two people are from the same gender, if they connect on a deeper level? They just love each other.

50 years ago, many people thought interracial marriage was an abomination. You're now enlightened enough to recognize that all that matters is love. How long will it take for everyone to realize this is true for homosexuality as well?

The passages to look at are the ones which tell us of our freedom, like:

1 Cor 6:12

12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient:
KJV

Since there IS NO PROHIBITION BY GOD for Christians preventing us from marrying outside our "race", we are free to marry outside our "race".

Ask this person who told you that to find a passage which says Christians cannot marry outside their "race".

The laws given in the Old Testament about marriage applied only to the Jews as do their laws about eating pork and other such civil and ceremonial laws they were given.

Heb 9:9-10
10 They are only a matter of food and drink and various ceremonial washings-external regulations applying until the time of the new order.
(from New International Version)

None that I'm aware of. Moses was married to a Cushite who was of another race. I just think people should look at the problems that they could encounter from other people, not God (who I doubt has any problem with it). If you plan on having children, then some people can be cruel and racist with them. But this is getting better today since it is more common. Just be aware of some of the things your children may have to put up with and maybe any cultural differences you or he may have with your families. If none of this is a concern then do what you want. God loves us all equally!!

No. Interracial marriage is not forbidden in the Bible for Christians. But in some countries, it is best to use discretion for the interracial couple when going out in public. Many people around the earth are very intolerant of interracial couples and will violently attack or persecute them.

On the contrarary

Marriage between two like minded Christians is encouraged and blessed.

The bible states nothing about what either of you looks like, just about your hearts. You both must believe the same way, worship God the same way.

I have been blessed with the ability to watch singles and have noticed some very definate likes and dislikes in them.

the Chirstian singles that I watch all seem to want to find the same inside love for God, but they all have different attraction levels when it comes to what the outside looks like.

My son is so far very attracted to what we call brown sugar. He seems to be drawn to young ladies that are on the tan to dark tan side, dark hair , dark eyes.

Others, seem to be drawn to very different features, such as ice blue eyes.

All this is good, there is nothing wrong with being physically attracted to your lifetime mate. As long as you are on the same wavelength on the inside, all will go well for you.

Interracial marriage is permissible just as long as the other person is a Christian.

*A former pastor at my church (he now runs his own church) is African-American and married a Puerto-Rican.

*My uncle of Italian and Mexican heritage married a Fillipino lady.

God is unconcerned about the person's skin color and ethnicity; that stuff doesn't matter. What matters is that both are Christian and rely on Christ.

Several pseudo-christian cults (aryan churches, klan, christian identity for example) have a problem with it, but no it's not against christianity. I'm black with a latina wife, that was performed by her church, in our church there is a pacific islander/black married couple, a white/african one, an asian/black american one, a few black white ones, and probably more I'm forgetting. Moses was in an interracial marriage, his brother and sister got in trouble with God for bashing him for it.

UPDATE: outlaw393 the bible says people before the flood were having sex with demons, not people of other races. That's typical of the kinds of made up things cults come up with though.

Christians can marry someone of another race as long as that person is also a Christian. Otherwise, the spouse may lead the Christian astray.
