Your nail has a root, which is alive. After the nail is removed, the root remains, and begins to regrow the nail.

Hair and nail, are made of the same stuff, and are the same from an evolutionary perspective. If a hair is pulled out, it will re-grow, because the root is still there.

You still have the root and it will grow back unless a dr. applies a special medicine to stop the growth, which they won't do unless you are in a special medical problem[ non reg, growth. diabetes etc.. it will grow back it is for protection of your toe. etc.

you nail is living tissue so it will always grow. the cells will keep reproducing
