I live in Evansville, Indiana and there has been a rash of them. This city will set a record for them. That is what happens when people are brought up without Christ or any moral laws to guide them.

Yes it seems to be happening more and more often here too. It hit really close to home and broke our hearts when one of my husbands co-workers killed his two daughters, then himself.
His casket, two pink caskets and a teddy bear....That's when I started questioning why.
There were several things I noticed. The first was that his lousy-excuse-of-a-wife was threatening a divorce--for no reason. He still loved his family and wanted to keep them together. (She was trying to take the children too.)
The second thing was that he was on anti-depressants. So, I researched them. I was shocked and surprised at what I found.
I found that this mix: antidepressants & murder and/or suicide is more and more common all the time... And the drug companies are paying a lot of people off to keep it quiet & under the carpet. (Do a search.) I've listed a few--very few--below.
I think the mix of the two (threatened divorce and antidepressants) was deadly in his case. He felt he was in a lose/lose situation with no way out.

Well there has been an increase in my area of the world of suicide but we also suffered a direct hit from Hurricane Katrina 2 years ago. So I attributed it to that...despair and grief...

I have noticed the increase in suicide, considering that two of my friend's parents left their entire world behind, because things were getting too hard for them to deal with. One had marital issues, the other just had nothing left to live for, because his kids did nothing but take advantage of him. I've also had friends of mine take their own lives. Two of them slit their wrists, another got a hold of his father's gun and decided to take his own life that way.
I think a lot of it is that teens and adults are pressured to succeed, to live a sinless and problemless life. People are constantly put down because they're not good enough and sometimes, that sets them over the edge. Whether they're not good enough at school, whether they can't hold a job, being told, "You're just not good enough," can be mentally crippling to a lot of people, and as they think that, they let everything built.
I also think people are realizing that if things really are too hard, they have an escape route. They have a way to take everything and make it go away - without doing drugs and having a temporary feeling of euphoria, they can end it all and never ever have to deal with it again.
In context, it sounds wonderful, doesn't it?

I have not notice more suicides. However I have noticed more depression. Mabe it is eveything going on in our country and world. So much is negative. So many young people dont' have good role models and and don't have strong family support thesed days. That in itself can bring a person down. Anyhow, that's my thought

No one I've known or knew has commited suicide, so I really couldn't tell if it is. You tried to when you were 8? I'm really sorry to hear that, it's hard to think of an 8 yr. old trying it.

I have noticed and I think it is because we are teaching people that we are a pointless accident and that life is ultimately meaningless.

Actually, I have. We've had a rash of them in our town.
All ages and mostly male. I believe as time continues
we will see more of this hopelessness. Nothing to live for.
Feelings of emptiness. My answer is Jesus Christ for all.

Anecdote is not data. So is your " noticing ". Check the statistics on this if you wish conformation; not anecdotal information gleaned from a web site.
