That is sort of a nightmare, maybe a premonition. Also, it could be you are obsessed with the idea of having an accident (or you are afraid of it) and that is the way it comes out. You need to visit a therapist to work on that. Perhaps you are an insecure person.

I've had some seriously long repetitive dreams. One dream I had every 3 months for 27 years. Another one I have had intermittently for over 20 years.

My take on your dream is that you struggle with your emotions. The river is the flow of emotions and driving into the river means that you can't control your emotions. In most of your life, you are in charge and in control (driving your car) but when it comes to emotions you despair that they take you out of your normal state of being in charge and you feel vulnerable and weak.

Do you have the dream around a time of strong emotion where you feel overwhelmed. Before or after? Being a fall day is like you are falling into an emotional space, again like a lack of control.

One theory is that your dreams are your subconcious communicating to you concious mind. The subconcious communicates in symbols (pictures) rather than words. The symbols it uses are unique to you, although there can be cultural influences that make them similar to other people's symbols.

The issue is how to figure out what the various symbols in the dreams mean. The easist way is to simply ask: as soon as you wake up, ask you subconcious what the various things mean. If this doesn't work, put the question to each object in turn, e.g. "car, what do you represent?". It may seem a little strange, but it can often give surprising results. Once you understand what your subconcious is trying to tell you, the dream will stop occurring.

Well, what ever this dream is trying to warn you it has taken over 20 years to happen this dream will happen more frequently as the time draws closer. Perhaps you will drive off a bridge soon or something tragic is about to happen. Try to avoid this accident in your dream both in real life and in your dream.

According to Dreamcrowd:

To see the dyeing of cloths and garments in your dream, symbolizes either good or bad luck, depending on the color of the dye. (Find the color in this dictionary for further details.)

To see or be in an orchard in your dream, represents your potential for success.. Alternatively, it symbolizes fertility.
