in matthew 26: 36-46, jesus asked 3 disciples to stay and watch(keep alert and pray) but they slept! how could they sleep on such a very important night?(for jesus told them, tonight all of you will desert me. and he even told them he would be betrayed.) I guess.....they were made to sleep against their will. can anyone tell me?

You need a better description of what was happening.

For more details on that part of the story check this new free book... it's quite interesting ... fun too. Look at Ch. 19.

It's about the treasure of the Kingdom Gospel and a kid and his little sister looking for it. A fine book. "Gospel Enigma."

I don't know for sure but first they had just eaten a huge meal. I know that makes me tired also. Second They say the spirit is willing but the body is weak. So maybe they were influenced I know that I wasn't there and as far as I can tell it isn't essential to my salvation.

They had just finished a rather large meal.

And they were unaware it was to be an important night. Most of what Jesus said to them they did not understand; at least not fully.

My guess is they were tired...they had a full day preparing for the Passover meal and it was late at night.

It shows their imperfection and humanity...I doubt that they knew the gravity of what was about to happen...we get to look at it from hindsight.
