does anyone know the name of the purple medicine used for mouth ulcers or thrush?

I remember that it would stain your mouth and teeth really bad .

Silver nitrate. It comes on a stick that looks like a cotton swab only purple in color and hard. It is used to swab the mouth to treat thrush and minor ulcers in the mouth.
