When I was a kid my parents had a Ford Aerostar minivan that burned up. We suspected the alternator or faulty wiring to have been the cause but the engine compartment was too burned to tell. We were also under the ignition switch recall but the ignition switch never gave us any problems.

The ignition switches, alternators, and brake pressure switches all have caused fires on Fords. The latest fire problem is with the anti-lock brake wiring on the Escapes.

Not personally but seen the after effects of a few such as Bartzan stated... mainly ones with the deactivation switch recall (burns the wires around the master cylinder), a few of the old ignition switches that caught.. one or two contours that caught near the blower switches/blower resistors... and one where a unfixed coolant drip exploded some airbags... weird sight..
