Key words, like key events, unlock the meaning of a lesson, or a lecture. These words are the ones which contain most of the meaning of what the speaker says. Learning how to listen or look for key words will help you keep up with the speaker's pace, write down information accurately, and arrange ideas in their proper order. The notes you take will help you to recall main facts and mental pictures long after you first heard them.

What is wrong with this paragraph?

"Learning how to listen, or look, for key words will help..."

The words "or look" should be encased in commas. This is a structural error. It can also be seen as a tutorial error. If I'm the instructor of this class, I'd want my students to listen AND look for key words, not merely listen OR look for key words.

"Learning how to listen and look for key words will help..."

One more: Verb usage
".....most of the meaning of what the speaker is saying."

I think the sentences are not in proper order. Perhaps the first sentence should be, Learning how to listen or look for key words.....blah, blah, blah..... and then Key words, like key events.....blah, blah blah...

I don't really know?!
