Just wondering how the whole company demo thing works in the world of car sales. I spoke with a manager of a dealership today about a career in car sales and he mentioned the prospect of driving a demo. How does this work? Do I still make payments on it? Who pays the insurance, etc?
Thanks

A demo is a company car that you are allowed to drive home. The dealer provides the car. You do not make payments on it, because you do not own it! The dealer also provides insurance (you may want to look into getting supplemental coverage to protect yourself).

You may be charged a small fee for the car, or the dealership may show the value of the demo as taxable income. You can write off any gas costs, if you use the car for business!

You will usually be held responsible for any damage. The car can be taken and sold (you will get a different one) at any time, so you will have to keep it clean.

Good luck in the business

You demo the car and have to pay taxes on it too. It is income up to 600 a month to drive away in a company demo car. Take the money and invest.
