Atheists did it today with their responses to my question about the site concerning myths held concerning them.

Almost all of the responses were so kind. People took the time to explain to me.

(((Hugs))) to all the atheists.

Of course, I always knew they were cool. The pagans and Wiccans have always had my heart, too.

Yeah. My mind has been opened big time by R&S. I saw the struggles between Atheists and Christians, and had to bring an end to the ignorance and hate. I still want to.

In making that choice, I learned that there are many on both sides who also want to end this peacefully, yet feel blocked by the 'opposition'. Both of these groups have captured my attention, and I come to the conclusion that I am not so 'Anti-Christian' as I thought. In fact I find I am extremely tolerant.

But first prize on softening my heart goes to both the Wiccans and the Pagans.
They all seem to be so kind, gentle and loving.
It's not like with the warring factions of Atheists and Christians, where there's a peaceful minority.
It's like every single one is such a great person, that I just wanna reach into my computer and give em all a big hug.

But I wouldn't wanna steal your trademark, would I? lol

((((Hugs right back atcha))))

EDIT: I've jut ran 'troll' through the good old Urban Dictionary. It's someone who deliberately posts something to start an argument. It's also someone who make the most inane posts right back.
Basically it's a meathead with too much spare time.

The only thing that separates me from a troll at times is intent. I always try to get a healthy debate going, without stepping on toes. I sometimes fail miserably on the 'healthy' side of healthy debate, and I might as well have hacked off toes sometimes.

So that makes me a part-time accidental well-meaning troll. lol.

You're right about how this week has been great for unity.

I have always been friends with people who believe differently than I do. Most of my closest friends from college are either Christian or agnostic with theist leanings. Then I moved away and where I live now almost all my friends are atheists. I spent time traveling abroad and developed a great affinity towards Buddhism, especially in Thailand.

As far as this forum goes, it has to be the Pagans. I don't know any in real life, don't think I ever have. But within the first week of posting here I immediately recognized them as some of the funniest, smartest, and kindest people around. Riegan was my first of many R&S Pagan friends. Love you all!

((((Group R&S hug))))

No, my heart is hard as rock and difficult to soften. Especially with religious staff, since whatever you say, I have my religion that fits me much more than any other.

But your philosophy really made me weak in the knees.

"you all know I love everyone anyway" --- this was the sentence that made me feel a little warmer and even my pure stone heart shed a few tears. Thank You!

I don't actually object to anyone else's beliefs, sincerely held, and provided they use them as a force for good, and not as a weapon. Atheists are as guilty of this as anyone. I alreadly know lots of good Christians, Pagans and Muslims - I'm under no illusion that they one come in one flavour. But it's been refreshing to see very positive voices that often get drowned out in the rush of bile that's observed here sometimes. Rachel did not need to be cloned to get my deep respect. And Father K (I hope he's not long away) is a very fine human being.

No, however, some christians do provide comic relief, seeing as they answer a question using a book that only christians believe, and then insult you and call you names if you say something that is not in the best interest of their imaginary friend. Also, christians like to report your answers or questions , I guess whenever their imaginary friend tells them to. If I had voices in my head, I would go to a hospital, however, christians think it's groovy, baby, groovy. Thank you.

Yeah, I turned from a hateful "fundie" to a person who can accept everyone's beliefs and even maybe *gasp* learn something from them instead of just assuming that I know it all. No one religion or set of beliefs has all the answers. We all need each other.

Blessings in the Light of Christ!

I may respect another person who happens to be religious, but never their beliefs. Sorry.
