I am unsure where the concept comesfrom but it was a belief of many americans during the early years of the country. It is simply that 7 is a powerful number and while the seventhson was suposed to be lucky the seventh son of a seventh son was suposed to be powerful.

i think it just means that that person will be lucky in life.
former kansas city chiefs quarterback len dawson is the only "7th sonof a 7th son" that i can name, he actually mentioned this fact in his hall of fame speech. you would think he would have chosen 7 as his uniform number, but he was #16.

That is a superstition that the 7th of a 7th has psychic abilities.
