After begging, begging, begging, begging, and more begging, my mom is finally going to let me get a dog!
I have narrowed it down to either a Weimaraner, a Lab, a Great Dane, or a Boxer. Which one do you like the best? And feel free to include name suggestions!

I'm so excited for you :)

I like Weimaraners the best out of the bunch, but Labs are good first dogs. Boxers are mainly mellow..
Think about if you want a puppy or a dog..
inside or outside [hopefully inside, but that might be a whole other fight with your mom]
Think if you have enough time for a puppy/dog.
Don't just say puppy because they're cute..
Puppies requre A LOT more time than dogs do. Granted, dogs also deserve lots of time and attention, but you have to keep a closer eye on puppies.

also, look in animal shelters and rescues near you.
try petfinder.com too.
despite what people think, purebreds pop up there more often then thought because people breed their dogs and don't enough and/or quality homes for their pups.

Who knows, you just may find your best friend at that local animal shelter!
: )
good luck, and please work to be a great pet owner. [no assumptions of any sorts, of course]

EDIT: REALLY KEEP ON THE EXERCISE OF YOUR PET. Any animal without enough exercise will prove to be unstable, troublesome, may appear nervous or offguard all the time. Not to mention the boundless energy they will have that will probably annoy the snot out of you.

I think you should get a lab. They're a great type of pet. They're friendly, cute, and playful.I like a Weimaraner but a lab is better. A great Dane is a HUGE dog.If you toke it out for a walk and it started running you would probably fall down.A boxer is a tough dog.You need to have a lot of power to hold down a full-grown boxer.
Names for a male lab can be... Max, Buddy, Bailey, or tigger
Names for a female lab can be...Amy, Maggie, Cloe (Clow-e),or Alexandra.

Why not go to an animal shelter and give a home to a dog who really needs one?
Also which breed depends on the size of your house and garden and how much excercise the animal needs. Vets bills can be massive and pedigree dogs are more prone to health problems. Great Danes don't live very long and are especially prone to halth problems. Do you have brothers or sisters- some breeds are not good with small children.
I'd go for a rescue dog anyday.

I own a weimaraner!! He is a great dog but you have to spend allot of time in training them cause they will try to be dominate over you. If this is the first time owning a dog this would not be a good choose. They also have separation anxiety really bad and tear your house up while your gone. Research any breed before you pick one out. Good Luck

Are you getting one from a breeder? If so, I think you should look for a good breeder for each breed and see if you can spend some time with their dogs to see if it's a good match. Like others said, those are dogs that are going to need exercise and they'd probably love a large fenced yard to romp around in. It's not a matter of which people on here like best; you need to choose one that best fits your lifestyle and the care/space you can provide for it.

I have a Weimaraner and a Boxer. I love them both, but go w/ the Boxer. Less needy!!! And so loving!!! Name suggestion: Katie. Always loved that name for a big dog!

Is this your first dog? You do know that they need (all those breeds) alot of excersise, not just a 20 min walk but a good RUN for a long while in a park or so. Playing fetch ect.

If you've never had a dog before, you have to match the dog's temperament and exercise needs with your ability to provide them. I'd suggest looking up www.akc.org for some advise.
