It has completely lost any of its original meaning. Now it's just a day for kids to put on a costume and get free candy. The mail runs and I don't get holiday pay for that day so no, I don't think it's a holiday.

Pagans will tell you what a great and wonderful holiday it is in there tradition. Some Christians say it is a day of evil. I think that you will find most people think Halloween is a fun custom with many wonderful traditions. It doesn't matter if it is a *real* holiday or not. It is a time for parents to spend with their children doing fun and scary things. It is a lovely time of year. It is the last big outdoor activity before winter blows in. Just have fun.

Well I don't know about the commercialized "halloween" however the actual holiday Samhain is probably the most holy day in the Pagan calendar (I understand that not all Pagans follow that path but I'm using it for lack of a better word). It's our new year.

In my humble opinion, Halloween is just a good excuse for kids to put on costumes (and pretend they're a super-hero, their favorite cartoon character, princess or whatever) have some fun (going door-to-door or to a party) and get free candy. I've never related Halloween to religion and I don't know anyone who does.

I think it may have started out as a holiday many years ago but now it's just about dressing up and getting candy. Kids don't even get it off from school.

No, I celebrate Samhain, the Wiccan holy day that falls close to Halloween. (And yes, we do celebrate holy things on that day, specifically the memory of our beloved dead and the turning of the Wheel of the Year to its next phase.)

Not really. Kids come trick or treating. It is not a national holiday, by any means.
There is something magical about it that I find cool.

It's Samhain. The biggest holiday of the year in my religion. We honor the dead.
