By asking Jesus into your heart as your personal savior. When you believe that he died on the cross for your sins.

A lot of people think that if you go to church for a long time and serve the Lord that your a christian. It's very good to do that, but until you reach the point of repentance, are you a christian. You should really check some churches out. Also, what the person above me just said is really good

I hope that your question is sincere. Otherwise, without a genuine quest for the true God, your efforts will be for naught.

I am a Christian, and, no matter how many Billy Graham TV crusades I've watched, -- I have never believed that one becomes a Christian by praying a prayer and by taking willful and particular steps.

The Scripture says that "......without faith it is impossible to please Him." [N.T. Hebrews 11:6 -- but please read, in context] Muttering a particular prayer and taking some self-willed steps is not the same as "saving faith."

Here's what I would suggest, since the Scriptures are the authority on matters of faith and life. It says that ".......faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God." [Romans 10:17]

Start reading the Gospel of John since this one particular book possesses more of the sayings of Christ than any other Biblical book. Read with an open & quest filled mind -- and, a mind that is humble. As you continue to read Scripture, [and acknowledge your failure to live the Ten Commandments], continually acknowledge your (sinful) helplessness. This is, in itself a "prayer," -- the only prayer that an unbeliever (non-Christian) can truthfully and honestly utter. ["God, be merciful to me, a sinner!"]

I can't tell you if and when, you will come to the realization of your true and wretched state of your sinful condition -- but if and when you do -- and, you seek the help and forgiveness in Christ, who was (is) the only One who can forgive you and wash away your sins -- then, you will come to the realization of the Holy Spirit's "regenerating" work in your soul.

You will know the work of the Triune God in your heart and soul when He has done the work of "regeneration" [conversion -- Gospel of John, chapter 1] If you can come to the realization of the Triune God's work in your being, then, that is a good indication that the Lord has already done His work in you, "making" you a "Christian."

I guess the short answer is, you believe in Jesus Christ. Thus making your self a christian. A follower of christ, than you have to decide what all you believe and where that puts you in the denomination spectrum.

Well, I guess the first question to ask yourself is
What do I believe?

You have to find a sect of christianity and then you follow their guidelines for membership and inclusion. To become an evangelical christian/ or sometimes they refer to themselves as bible believing christians, you just have to "ask jesus to live in your heart and later on you will probobly participate in a baptism of sorts. In the Lutheran church you are required to become baptized and then you give your membership to one paticular church and they give you a short cathecism class. Catholics believe in Baptism, but you have to take a set of classes to "convert" and then you are accepted in on your baptism normally around easter. Methodist, Presbyterians, and most other dinominations have their own codes, but it generally involves baptism, but if you are already baptized than it might just be a short class on their beliefs and an exceptance of you as a member in their congregation.

To be a Christian you must accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Contact a Church near you and ask about membership or simply start attending services.

Ignore reality. Pretend that the way you would like things to be is more real than how things really are. Ignore the fact that there's no evidence for the existence of any god, and Jesus is a fictional character -- just one in a long line of "risen saviors."

Christian=Christ-like. Realize you are a sinner, Ask God with a sincere heart to forgive you, and be your personal Lord and Savior and Believe with your heart that he will.then find yourself a bible believing bible teaching church, read your bible 'asking God to lead and guide you.and Keep in mind that being a christian doesn't mean we're perfect, just forgiven. Faith=substance of things hoped for ,evidence of things not seen. If you ask God with a sincere heart HE WILL help you to know.........................................................................

I don't think that just being saved makes you a christian. You need to attend church, read the bible, etc. Being saved is to ask Jesus into your heart, repent and turn from your sin.

Accept Jesus Christ as your personal saviour. Confess your sins to Him & repent, acknowledge that He is Gods Son, born of a virgin, sent to earth to lead us to God. The only way to salvation is through faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus says if we publicly confess our faith in Him, He will confess us as one of His, to the Father. If you are new to the Christian faith, then you should read the New Testament-I prefer the Book of John(Matthew, Mark, Luke, JOHN). I think his account gives the best description and it is easy to understand who Jesus is.

why would you want to, its just mythology, and of all the mythological gods to worship why that one. the christian mythological god commands you to not commit adultery yet he fornicated with and knocked up Joseph's girl Mary, later he watched his own son killed and did nothing to help him. he also commands you to not kill, yet he murdered everyone on earth except Noah's incestuous family, murdered everyone in two cities, Sodom and Gomorrah, murdered all the innocent first born of Egypt who had nothing to do with the Pharaoh enslaving the Israelites, then murdered Pharaohs army. he is jealous of all other gods yet he is the only god, so who is he jealous of, kinda psycho sounding. and if you don't worship him he will give you eternal suffering, kinda demanding and needy don't ya think.

if a guy with that score card lived next door to me i don't think i would want my loved ones patterning their lives after him so why would you want to.

if you want to believe in a fictitious character and pattern your life by that belief how about Santa. Santa never killed anyone, never fornicated with another guys girl and knocked her up, never demands you to believe and worship him nor threaten to make you suffer eternally if you don't. Santa brings you gifts and candy if you are good and sticks and coal if you are bad each year.

Santa is returning soon, are you prepared?!

Jesus told the thief on the cross to believe in God and he would be in paradise. so just believe that Jesus is God in your heart and you will be saved. Read the Bible, And get together with believers so they can disciple you. 1st of all, Ask Jesus to come into your heart and repent of your sins. He will forgive you and He will wash you white as snow.
