Rape of any kind let alone gang rape is really not a common feature of homosexuality at all, but the attempted gang rape of angels which are not even the same species can hardly be called homosexuality can it...get real!

Darth Severus: still they were not human males whatever their devious guise... are you saying they were sort of agent provocateurs, rather like pretty policemen? They were not human.

iiiiii: rape is rape, it has little to do with homosexuality and lots to do with the common practice of humiliation of enemies, let's face it these angels were come to warn of the already scheduled destruction of the whole city...they were not friendly type angels anyway but genocidal monsters, maybe they thoroughly deserved to be raped, still it has nothing to do with gay relationships..

Regardless of who the angels were, it is evident enough that the men of Sodom thought they were men. I would posit that gang rape is not a common feature of heterosexuality either. I would assume that if you look at the incidence of heterosexual gang rape in comparison to homosexual gang rape, the numbers would line up. Maybe not. But does the fact that gang rape is uncommon in modern homosexual circles all of a sudden make the action implausible, especially in light of the fact that it was a society in an entirely different locale some 4 or 5000 years ago? The men of Sodom assumed Lot's visitors were men and wanted to "know" them as such. Thus, by definition and etymology of the word "homosexual" meaning "of the same sex," then yes, of course it falls under the category of homosexuality. Their intention was to have sex with travelers whom they thought were men.

Sodom was one of a group of five towns, the Pentapolis (Wisdom 10:6): Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboim, and Bela -- also called Zoar (Genesis 19:22). The Pentapolis region is also collectively referred to as "the Cities of the Plain" (Genesis 13:12) since they were all sited on the plain of the Jordan River, in an area that constituted the southern limit of the lands of the Canaanites (Genesis 10:19). Lot, a nephew of Abram (Abraham) chose to live in Sodom, because of the proximity of good grazing for his flocks (Genesis 13:5-11).

In Genesis 18, God informs Abraham that he plans to destroy the city of Sodom because of its gross immorality. Abraham pleads with God not to destroy Sodom, and God agrees that he would not destroy the city if there were 50 righteous people in it, then 45, then 30, then 20, or even ten righteous people. The Lord's two angels only found one righteous person living in Sodom, Abraham's nephew Lot. Consequently, God destroyed the city.

In order to be able to fully understand the particular situation u must have the following things in mind

1st: the ANGELS took the form of 2 handsome man
2nd: Sodom and Gomorrah where 2 sin-cities corrupted to their very foundation
3rd:The concept of homosexuality nowadays is far from what it used to be,therefore it was conceived differently (obviously NOT by God but by the inhabitants of the cities), in this particular case incest, beastry, pedophilia, homosexuality where common sight ...consequently they were NEITHER forbidden NOR posed an ACT out of the ordinary
4th:If rapping Angles was an act of homosexuality the GOD surely failed to wipe gayness out of this world(just kidding REALLY)

YES it was, but it was NOT an act generally accepted as abnormality......therefore it was not publicly condemned...if u go just a step further u will find out that Abram (Abraham)
THE ONLY RIGHTEOUS MAN PRIMARILY OFFERED HIS 2 DAUGHTERS in order them to get raped and not the transformed Angels.....therefore things kind of get out of control....offering your own off-springs to please the sexual needs OF A WHOLE COMPLEX OF 5 CITIES is also conceived as abnormality nowadays, just like homosexuality....besides look what happened afterwards Abraham was actually seduced and raped by his 2 daughters ....soooo...my point is that u CANNOT categorize their actions since the social norm was different..
theses people (according to the Bible) were so disturbed that even sexual perversity was out of the ordinary.....
IF POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!
(and 4 f@ck's sake we have Internet nowadays.....)

As the first person stated, the Angels took on Human form of men. It doesn't matter that they weren't men. Since those who tried to rape them thought they were going to be raping men, then that is what counts in the end (pun intended).

Additional: You know, I'm so tired of people trying so hard to keep a worse image from forming in other's mind about any group, that they not only underscore any bad action of anyone in that group but try to make them appear to be angels (no pun intended this time). Gang rape is just as common among homosexuals as it is of any other group, as is murder, theft, assault, blackmail, etc.

And while rape can be associated with humiliating and domineering the one being raped, so can the act of sex in itself, which is why S&M and all types of role playing exist in sex. A man still needs to be sexually stimulated in order to get a conscious erection, so they have to be sexually stimulated in order to rape, even if there is more to their agenda than only sex. And since they thought they were going to be raping men, then it was from this that they received their stimulation.

Rape hopefully is not a part of any healthy relationship, it is showing how unhealthy these people had gotten, and even tarnished Lot who offered His unmarried daughters to the mob instead of "His Guests" that was disgusting - however that was Lot, Lot really should never have left UR with Abram because God asked only ABRAM to go.

The Biblical account of Sodom and Gomorrah is recorded in Genesis chapters 18-19. Genesis chapter 18 records the LORD and two angels coming to speak with Abraham. The LORD reiterated His promise to Abraham that he would have a son through Sarah. The LORD also informed Abraham that, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous..." Verses 22-33 record Abraham pleading with the LORD to have mercy on Sodom and Gomorrah because of the fact that Abraham's nephew, Lot, lived in Sodom.

Genesis chapter 19 records the two angels, disguised as human men, visiting Sodom and Gomorrah. Lot met the angels in the city square and urged them to stay at his house. The angels agreed. The Bible then informs us, "Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom — both young and old — surrounded the house. They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them." The angels then proceeded to blind all the men of Sodom and Gomorrah and urge Lot and his family to flee from the cities to escape the wrath that God was about to deliver. Lot and his family flee the city, and then, "the LORD rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah — from the LORD out of the heavens. Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, including all those living in the cities — and also the vegetation in the land."

So, what was the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah? It is abundantly clear the homosexuality was the primary evil. The men of Sodom and Gomorrah, thinking that the angels were men, wanted to have sex with them. Those who attempt to explain away the Biblical condemnations of homosexuality claim that the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah was inhospitality. While the men of Sodom and Gomorrah were clearly being inhospitable...that clearly was not all. The men of Sodom and Gomorrah desired to perform homosexual gang rape on the angels. While Sodom and Gomorrah were surely guilty of many other horrendous sins, homosexuality was the reason God poured fiery sulfur on the cities, completely destroying them and all of their inhabitants. To this day, the area where Sodom and Gomorrah were located remains a desolate wasteland. Sodom and Gomorrah serve as a powerful example of how God feels about sin in general, and homosexuality specifically.

So homosexuals don't usually "gang rape" because it is really not a common feature of homosexuality at all?!? Well maybe it was the way they did it there in Sodom. Secondly, I think they were unaware of who the "visitors" were, they seen "men". Lastly it was a place of evil and was destroyed because of it. That's as real as it gets.

The angels were in the form of men, and the people who attempted it did not know that they were Angels at the time. So I would say yes, they had the intent to do harm. And with the way that they wanted to do it, shows that they had done this sort of thing before. As they refused Lot's daughters, when offered them.

Thinking before speaking would do you well. The angels came down in the form of travelers (men). This was a test from God, who knew the nature of the Sodomites. God Is Faithful and True, His Word Is Not Void!

Of course it was homosexuality. The men in the crowd didn't know they were angels; they thought they were men. Ergo, homosexuality.

Really, yours is the lamest argument I've seen on Y!A for quite a while, and that's saying something.

the angels took form of male humans, as they commonly do.

If you somehow think Bible in not anit-gay, read Leviticus 18:22. Lists homosexuality right along with zoophilia, human sacrifice and incest.
