They'll pick it up if it means 'food time'.
Call her name and hand her a piece of cat food. Say her name when you put her bowl down in front of her. Call her name as you pick her up to brush her or pet her. Say her name whenever you reach to pet her.
They learn fast, even if they have three names -- their official one, the short cut one and the cutsy poo one when they're all cuddly.
You can even change the name on them years down the line, by doing the same thing. They learn it's a sound that you say when you want to do something with them.

A suggestion would be to put some of her favourite food in a bag or cup which will make a sound she will grow to love. When she comes to you even if it is only part way reward her with a treat. Each day she will gradually come to you sooner and with excitement. Also when you are shaking the food or talking to her at all keep mentioning her name. She will learn to associate it with someone that is intended for her. Good luck with Beatrice.

Oi! Cats can be really stubborn! I really wouldn't worry about her not answering you, she probably does know her name but is doing that "I'm a cat and there fore superior to you so I don't have to come when you call my name" thing....my cats are generally like this except when they want something...
If you really really want her to come to you, you can always try the treat factor--giver her a treat after you say her name and she will soon associate her name with a treat and come--at least more oftern--when you callher.
Good luck--I feel you pain at being ignored by your kitty!

I have noticed that cats listen to the sylables of their name rather than their actual name. Does she listen to either saying? Do you do it in the same tone all the time? These things make a difference.
With my cats, I have a tone for when they are bad and a tone for when they are good. I think they obey the tone more than the actual name.

Just have to give Bea time. Make sure you constantly repeat it when you feed her, when you want to find her, etc, etc. I can call my cats names sometimes and they won't even budge for me. I have to go searching for them to make sure they are the house or let alone, still alive. LOL

Get an electric can opener. Works every time. I have never seen a cat sit still when they hear that. They always come running.

it's pretty normal for some cats. Some just don't wanna be bothered. try calling your cat a different name for a little while.

Try giving her something tasty to eat whenever you call her name - then she will come. (Yes - she'll always associate it with food - but at least you will be able to get her inside when you want to.)
