I lived in a muslim country. I spoke arabic. I wasn't even muslim, yet no one oppressed me for it over there.
On the southside of Chicago there's a lot of crime. yet there's a church on every block.
If you interpreted the Quran correctly, you would understand that "Allah" doesn't want you to go around bombing up some air forces.
Some of you haven't even considered reading it before you make these ignorant comments on my contact's questions like, "oh sorry but the white folks are paying for your mistakes"
Persecuting someone over their religon or bashing them because of their religon is similar to racism.
The people that are being terrorists and claiming to be doing so in the name of Allah are most likely using their religon as an excuse to hurt people.
Homosexuals have gotten hurt badly by Christians too. There are fights everyday, maybe they're not as big that they make the news, but it's not only people claiming to be muslim that hurt people. It's other religons too.

The issue is that after the 1st WTC attack in 1993, Somalia in 1994, the embassy bombings in 1998, The USS Cole in 2000, the attacks of 9/11/2001, and the craziness in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran, a lot of the western world thinks the following:
Arab=Muslim
Muslim=Wahabism
Wahabism=Al Qaida
So, Arab=Al Qaida
The media has created a culture of fear and ignorance about a religion with a lot of good teachings and truth to it.
As an American Latter-Day Saint, I am saddened and disgusted by this new culture.
Also, the same fundamentalism that plagues Islam hurts Christianity as well. People like Westboro Baptist Church (godhatesfags.com), abortion clinic bombers, bigoted and corrupt televangelists, and the like are not exemplary of the teachings of Christ or his apostles. I can't apologize for all professed Christians, but I don't condone that behavior and I'm ashamed of it.
I travelled to Kuwait, the UAE, Bahrain, and Oman, and I loved every minute of it. I think that followers of Islam are by and large fantastic, moral, charitable people given a bad name by the equivalent of Arab rednecks.
I'm very sorry for your experiences and I hope that you run into more tolerant, intelligent people in the years to come.

"If you interpreted the Quran correctly, you would understand that "Allah" doesn't want you to go around bombing up some air forces." - Go tell that to Osama.
But you're right, it is not just muslims, the christians hurt people too, so do the hindus etc. In the words of Christopher Hitchens "Religion poisons everything."

That is a stupid stereotype, and I would never think that way. The Americans, I live in Ohio, use 9/11 as a huge crutch. I know it was horrible, one of my teachers almost died! Seriously, though, what is killing innocent people and judging them by their religion going to do? The majority of England is starting to become Muslim. What, are we going to blow up their lives too??! I hope not!

Many so called Muslims have done wrong.
Similarly many so called Christians have done wrong.
The people that do wrong in the name of ANY religion are offenders to God and taint that religion with blood and hypocrasy.
They are the real cause of lost faith and atheism.
Shame on people who commit sins in the name of Religion!
I know of very saintly Muslims or people born as Muslims.
Demons disguised as religious people, have taken birth in religious families just to destroy religion.

So you are saying that Religion is a problem? Religions are not tolerant of one another? I think you might be a couple of thousand years late with that bit of news.

This question is asked quite often. Most people understand that there are extremists that twist whatever particular religion they choose to engage in inappropriate activities. Obviously, there are some who don't understand that concept...I just ignore them.
