In every best driver competition I have ever seeen Earnhardt and Petty are always the top 2. Petty was the greatest when he drove abd the same is true of Earnhardt. Had King Richard died on the track the legacy would be a big as the Earnhadrt legay. THey are both men who could drive and win. While their styles were different they were the best. Sterling Marlin was a good friend to Dale Sr and felt horrible about his death, THe fans who blamed him for the eath were just insane. No Dale Sr is not overrated.

no he wasnt the most overrated driver.SR did whatever it took to win.if current drivers raced like SR the would be blackflagged for ruff driving.im not sure how many people followed wrestling but SR was to NASCAR as ric flair was to wrestling considered dirtiest players in their sport.which is why everyone liked both men.
as far as sterling marlin remark grow up only person that put SR into the wall at anytime was SR himself it was his racing style. in an interview before the race SR garrenteed Waltrip would win the race and he followed up by doing something hes NEVER done before!! SR was trying to protect Waltrip and JR from losing the lead the crash probally never would have happaned.

first of all your knowledge of the intimidator is rough at best, no he is not overrated but underrated, he has made nascar what it is, as for the wall bit, the loss of any life on the nascar circuit is a terrible thing, ( unless your a gordon/johnson fan) you will never see or hear of a driver do the things that earnhardt did and still be competitive, dale earnhardt sr is the man and always will be

You are entitled to your opinion BUT his records show for itself. Nascar will never be the same after his death. The good old boys are almost gone from racing. The older drivers were tuff and knew all about the cars. Dale was and still is the man!!!! I loved the black # 3. The first time I saw him was at Bristol.

not overrated. he deserved the attention he got. he drove to the very end with his death like he did from the beginning. he was dale, and he wouldn't apologize for being dale. there were only few drivers out there that had no problem wrecking you. even the drivers in every answer about dale, said that he was the man, and they admired him. now it's like NASCAR should just install turn blinkers on the car. sadly...nascar isn't what it use to be.

Wow, what a jerk.
To answer your question... let's see. Yeah, he and his SEVEN cup titles were way overrated... just like Jack Nicklaus, Michael Jordan, Hank Aaron and Joe Montana were overrated.
