O.K. Boys and Girls !!! Strap on your safety belts, snug up the shoulder harness's, 'cause we are about ready to go!!
I was stationed at Fort Devins, Mass. in the summer of 1957 ! THE NATIONAL DIRECTOR OF THE AMERICAN RED CROSS ISSUED A DIRECTIVE TO ALL PERSONNEL, WORKING FOR, WITH, and / or CONTRACTED TO, THE AMERICAN RED CROSS STATING:
'" COMENSING IMMEDIATLY, NO ONE UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE AMERICAN RED CROSS, WILL BE PERMITTED TO HAVE ANY CONTACT WITH ANY U.S. MILITARY PERSONEL, BEYOND THE OFFICIALLY REQUIRED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS, AND THOSE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS WILL SOLEY BE CONDUCTED IN THE STRICTIST FORMAT"
I was not in Korea, nor WW ll, however, I had uncles and cousins who were and, along with the many hundreds of still active personnel I had contact with, in the mid- 1950's, ALL OF THEM MADE THE SAME STATEMENTS, WHEN ASKED, YES THE RED CROSS SOLD--SOLD--SOLD THE FRONT LINE TROUPS CIGARETTES!!! THE AMERICAN TOBACCO COMPANIES DONATED THE CIGARETTES, FREE OF CHARGE, THE ARMY TRUCKS DROVE THOSE CIGARETTES TO SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA WHERE NAVY PERSONEL LOADED THOSE SAME CIGARETTES ONTO THE NAVY'S SHIPS, THE US NAVY TRANSPORTED , AND UPON REACHING THE KOREAN PORT/S, DISTRIBUTED SAME, TO THE VARIOUS MILITARY ENTITIES !! THE ARMY, & / OR MARINE PERSONNEL AND ,TRANSPORTED THOSE SAME CIGARETTES TOWARDS THE FRONT LINES.! BEHIND THE FRONT LINES, AT A SAFE DISTANCE WERE RED CROSS DETACHMENTS, USUALLY NEAR THE MEDICAL FACILITIES. THE RED CROSS "DREW" THE CIGARETTES FROM THE Q.M.'S AND ROAD IN A JEEP,(ONLY AS LONG AS THERE WERE NO REPORTS OF ENEMY ACTIVITIES), TO THE FRONT LINES WHERE THEY """ SOLD"""SOLD""" THOSE SAME CIGARETTES TO OUR FIGHTING MEN !!! "" WE HAVE TO COVER OUR EXPENCES"!!!
As it happens, I have A+ blood type! Not real rare, but not the most common. A sergent, while I was at Ft. Devins, needed a transfusion, he was type A+, and since I was avaliable, I donated my blood GLADLY !!!! The transfusion occured, in a US Army hospital, staffed by US Army personnel, US Army equipment, US Army time !! I saw the red cross person, for less than 15 seconds, AND THE RED CROSS CHARGED THE US ARMY FOR ALL OF THE SERVICES !!!!
The red cross has done some good things, in their time !!! However, even now, as far as this ol' vet is concerned, THE RED CROSS HEADS CAN TROT THEIR FACES OVER TO ME, PUCKER UP, AND FRENCH KISS MY GOAT SMELLING ASZ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Uncle Wil ONE DAMNED PROUD VET !

The red cross is one of the biggest money hungry frauds of all time. Sure they help people sometimes and they make sure you see it on TV. Did you ever wonder why it is so important for a state to be declared a disaster area by the president . It's so the red cross gets back all the money it puts out to help the people in that disaster area. People send money to the red cross in order to help not to mention all the donations from the big company's. Then we pay again with our tax money the president so freely gives away.So where does all the millions and millions of dollars go in donations and in who's pocket does it go.The red cross has nerve to charge 500. a pint that our government gives back to the red cross. That is the same blood the troops give freely from their hearts and this is the thanks they all get from trying to help. Don't forget the red cross pays no tax. They get money from every which way pretty good or should i say pretty clever.

I've heard some other shady stuff about Red Cross before. I know this is a while back, but my Great Grandfather was in WWI and he said that people would donate cigarettes and the Red Cross would charge the Soldiers money for them.

Red Cross used to give me to people for blood, but stopped. I think it had something to do with people who shouldn't of been giving blood were.

The Red Cross is the biggest bunch of crooks that ever existed. Their main interest is $$$$$$. When I went thru the AFEES in Amarillo Texas in Dec 1969, the Red Cross was glad to sell us coffee @ 50cents a cup donuts @ 25 cents. When they hand stuff out at natural disasters? You have to sign a paper agreeing to make a "contribution" as soon as things get back to normal. If they "help" you with relocation after a fire or flood, you will get a fund raising letter at least once a week for the rest of your life. If you do not believe me, go to any American Legion Post or VFW Hall, stick your head in the door and say "RED CROSS". They will probably chase you down the road!

I call BS.

Blood in Iraq comes from the troops already in country.

I served in Iraq and made a couple of trips to the CSH to donate a pint.

Blood is awfully difficult stuff to get - not as many people are donating blood as there should be, and there's hardly even enough to go around in the civilian world.

Wow, I did not know that. Probably because everybody is trying to make money in this war, and young people with ideals and innocents keep dying.
