No AIDS does not directly kill people. AIDS Destroys a persons Immune System. Therefore making one extremely suceptable to infections. A person that has AIDS can catch a minor virus like the Cold, or the Flu, and it can kill them easily.

AIDS doesn't kill you. But it weakens and destroys your immune system...so if you get a cold virus, you die. You die from a secondary infection because your body couldn't fight the virus/bacteria that entered your body. That's why many AIDS patients die from pneumonia or colds.
