I'm trying to get the kids I babysit to eat healthier foods. their mom suggested I make the food into things they like.
They like Sesame Street
Well, I'm at a color halt. I need some ideas for pink food for some noses and mouths. Purple for the count. Blue for cookie monster and Grover. I also need black and orange food ideas except for olives, black beans, oranges and carrots.
the food has to be naturally that color and it has to be solid and healthy. fruits, vegetables, poultry and grains. If the food needs to be cooked before eating that has to be the color of the food after it is cooked.

Great Idea! I was an au-pair in Holland for 15 months, and this sounds familiar. I would suggest that you do not worry about the colours too much, but rather about the shapes.
For instance: the 3 kids hated fruit, especially apples. Secretly, when preparing their lunchboxes, i cut faces and simple shapes out of round layers of apple. They loved it! everyday they anticipated which shapes they will get, and forgot that they didn't like eating it before.
With dinner, you can also arrange the food into shapes or their favourite: a face. This makes eating fun!
I do admire people like you who still try different ways to bring up little children. Good luck with your Sesame-(eat) mission!

For Pink try sliced strawberries or watermelon. Orange you could use mango, papaya(nature's antacid) and for black use rasins. Purple? there are those purple potatoes that you could make into mashed potatoes, blueberries for cookie monster. Are you open to adding a little food coloring to stuff? You could add blue food coloring to regular mashed potatoes.

for pink try grapefruit, for purple try purple Peruvian potatoes, orange you can try pumpkin, black you can use different types of mushrooms. for blue, that is a tough one... try blue corn, but it is not really that blue. I also suggest, instead of trying to get them to eat food that looks like a sesame street explosion, try making something simple and tasty that plays off of things they already know and like. if they like hot dogs find a way of making a very healthy and lean hot dog that is high in nutrition. finding what they like isn't always about how it looks (ie. some cartoon). it's about finding out what they like to eat and making a better healthy version of it. think outside of the box when it comes to making things healthier.

As a treat my mother would put one sweet treat in our food. Like for noses/eyes she would use jelly beans or licorice hair everything else just came in colors from the health store. In some health market they do have a kids isle that has it prepackaged and all you do is cook it.
