Psychologist or psychiatrist. Sounds like besides depression you also have social phobia (like me) or maybe even agoraphobia. Meds vary, but the Doctor will know what to use. Your family Dr can also prescribe meds.

First you should go to a family doctor to determine your general state of health.Once you have spoken to him/her they may refer you to someone else. There is no medicine you should try without a prescription. A psychotherapist may help you to discover the reason for your depression and anxieties without the use of drugs. If this alone does not help, medication should only be used as prescribed and under continuing supervision.

make an appointment with a psychologist and be prepared to put in some time doing "talk therapy" rather than just jumping on meds. if your psychologist thinks that you require medication they can refer you to a psychiatrist, but you will likely need to keep doing therapy. good luck!

A psychiatrist prescribes medications for mental illnesses. Any psychiatrist worth his/her salt will only prescribe drugs along with therapy (you can go to a registered therapist or a psychologist for therapy - usually they work with the psychiatrist to help you).

it's not for you to decide what kind of meds. talk to your normal physician (whoever does your annual physical) they can refer to you a psychiatrist for meds and a psychologist for therapy.
