Whenever I feel sorrowful, discouraged, or just "blue", I tend to turn to the book of Philippians in the New Testament. Paul wrote Philippians while he was imprisoned, and yet his epistle was full of JOY. It is about true joy, that which is found in knowing the truth of Christ and knowing His love. He talks about how God can turn evil into good and how even death isn't too great for God. I find it so encouraging that the greatest book on joy in the Bible was written by a man chained to a Roman soldier. Philippians is a short book, so I recommend just sitting down and reading it, taking time to enjoy Paul's encouraging words.

I read the psalms. Psalm 103 and 91 are so encouraging. I read the book of Joshua, Samuel 1and 2. Kings 1 and 2 (the life of David experiences all the emotions you've named and how he gave it all to God in prayer and tears.) The book of Job and Isaiah. Luke 1and 2. Also the part in Revelations when the believers will one day see our Lord's beautiful face!

A. Realize that all things are impermanent, to include sorrow, and try to cultivate empathy.
B. Decide what the danger is and react to it intelligently but with as much compassion as I can try to put a stop to it.
C. Realize that all things are impermanent and changing, and there are ways to encourage myself.
D. When I'm "blue" I take my meds and meditate on the fact that there are thousands of people who are worse off than I am and offer merit for their happiness.
E. Find something to do that is virtuous... I do have my rotten naughty moments.
F. I don't get jealous so I guess I can't help you on that one.

Thanks to God and Jesus and Their ever-Present One Combined Spirit here, I seldom now have those experiences.
If in any internal conflict or external danger, I would immediately pray and worship God and Jesus and receive immediate Spirit help ! (much more Real than just some outer physical miracles that most might wish for for a quick repair of their alleged condition.)
In worship and in sincere prayer, all of our supposed problems are removed in Spirit and put in perspective. You also then know what you should do in the temporal world to act more as Jesus would act and for you to act.
If you are at a point where you can read inspiring Bible verses, I would suggest slowly perusing John ch 17 -- Jesus' so-called "High Priestly Prayer" ! Jesus was about to be physically murdered by evil, disbelieving humans; and what did GODMAN JESUS concern HimSelf with ? The Apostles and Disciples and all present and future sincere believers in God in Him ! If you really comprehend in Spirit and in Truth what Jesus says directly here to you ...you could be suddenly Granted a Sacred Vision of God and Jesus and in Paradise Light and Eternal Life ...
(Blaise Pascal and many others have received this God-conscious Spirit Birth .. 5-24-AD1977 for me ...)
Peace and progress,
Brother Dave, a Jesusonian Christian

I find that the Psalms, any of them, covers this one for me. If David can write down that he is struggling, but in the same writting praise the Lord for all He has done. Then I think they will uplift me as well.

I don't read the bible. If I'm sorrowful, I look into myself to discover why and how I can change it. If I'm in danger - I react to get myself out of danger. When I'm discouraged, I look inside myself for strength. When I'm blue, I look into myself to find out why and what I can do to change it. When I'm bored, I find something constructive to do. When I'm jealous, I explore why and try to solve the problem within myself.

I read in the Bible from Luke. My favorite is the parable of the lost son. I also read from Jeremiah. Those are my favorite chapters that I read when I feel any of those emotions.
