It all depends on your height. Shorter people will feel more comfortable with a seat cushion that is not too deep and a taller person will feel more comfortable with a taller back. Some people are more comfortable with a tight back cushion, some like loose back or semi-attached.
Some like firm seat cushions, others like softer ones or down feather filled. Some like fabric, some like leather. So, you will need go the stores to sit on them and ask questions.

It is all a personal preference.

You have to do some homework here and visit furniture stores and talk to the designers about how the cushions are made. They have cut-aways available to show you the method used and to show the quality. Sit on the pieces and you will begin to notice the differences between inexpensive seats and others. Some upholstery lines offer cushion upgrades. If this is a piece that will be in constant use, qaulity is always better. Other than that, it's up to you and what feels good.

i sat on the most comfortable couch at costco, but since they're a bulk store they have to constantly move things. so they got rid of the couch and sadly i never seen it again.

the couch was grey and had fur (not real) but not too much. it wasn't really fluffy or soft, it was just right. the best thing is that it was the right size. your legs didn't stick out too much nor was it too big so that you would have to sit out to touch the floor. i hate that, if you sit more in you would have to cross your legs or keep them straight out. then theres those chairs with big round lumps. where if a person goes to sit in the middle everybody slides to the center. you have to try and hold on to the arms of the couch.

The one that feels the best to you. I personally like my queen-size sleep sofa. It is very sturdy. The cushions don't sink in when you sit on them.
