You could text:
"Some things are easier to text than say out loud, like 'I LOVE YOU'. Care to show me how?"

Most people say things in texts/IMs/emails that they can't say in person. I would tell you not to say i love you in writing until you are ready to say it in person, but since you already did, it's okay! Maybe try it on the phone, and also, does he say he loves you back? If he doesn't, stop saying it until he says it first. That could definitely make you nervous. Something casual before hanging up on the phone, like "I love you!!" in a cute, excited way is good. Make sure you mean it though! Good luck.

Texting/ writing/ messaging is much less personal, and easier to use when you want to say stuff you don't feel comfortable saying. Mainly because he cannot see your face, and when he answers it's at a distance. Maybe you're afraid to get close to him, or you are not too sure of your feelings for him.

Because writing/texting is less intimate, therefore you may just be "love ya" as opposed to the real thing. Love is an overused feeling, and when writing it is just a "thing" but when you say it, it has more meaning to some people, and its more difficult to say.

You're just shy. It easier to write something out because you are telling the paper. You are giving a piece of paper with words on it to your boyfriend. When you tell him in person, its like your giving him your love. I know that confusing, but it does make sense if you think about it.

Maybe you have very very deep feelings for him but arent in love with him b/c if you were in love with him you would be able to say it to him in person! It is a scary thing at first. GL

Maybe you don't love him. It's easier to write something down rather than say it, especially if you're not sure it's how you feel.

self confidence or you don't really mean it. Try this the next time you say question your self. say it in your mind do you feel like you do? is it worth it? if you say yes then you do mean it and just say it. If he doesn't say anything it was either too soon or he just doesn't.

because you are still full of uncertainty
Maybe you should think to yourself what are you scared of, commitment, being with one person for the rest of your life. That he won't return the feeling.
Ad take it from there
