If I do not report to DMV, would they know and what will be my outcome if DMV find out? The other party did not have any damage so they did not want to report anything. My car had a $4000 damage but I have a full coverage on my car. So, I decided to report to insurance company, someone hit me and ran. But, must I report to DMV? Would they find out? Would Insurance company report to DMV?

I park my car, and someone backup hit my car. My insurance mailed me a SR1 to report to DMV. If I do not report to DMV, that will hopefully not go to my record, if I shop for other insurance carrier in the future. But, will the insurance also report to DMV, after they mail me the SR1?

I have full coverage on my car. Whether it's my fault or not. They will pay for the damage. In this case, I do not have the other party info, the insurance act as if it's my fault, so I have to pay for the deductible to cover for the damage.

Did someone hit you and run? It doesn't sound like that based on your question. So telling your insurance that would be fraudulent, wouldn't it? Also the law is pretty specific, in most states it says $500 or more of damage must be reported. Period. It doesn't say "$500 or more must be reported unless the damage is all on your car and the other guy didn't want to make a report."

Yes, the chances are your insurance would report it on your behalf when you contact them.

If the accident was not your fault your insurance company will assist you in collecting from the at fault party. If it was your fault, they will pay less your deductible as you have collision coverage.

Make sure the other party did not file a police report later. In Ohio, you can just go to the police station and file within 3 days of an accident. Most insurance companies want a police report to pay claims. I have not heard of an insurance company notifying the DMV.

If your car was parked and somebody ran into it, they are at fault. It doesn't matter if they had no damage, if they damaged your car they must pay to repair it. Reporting it as a hit-run is fraudulent. Why would you want your insurance company to pay for the damages when legally, the other party is responsible?

If your Insurance knows , I surprised they didn't ask for a police report . if it wasn't your fault why didn't you report it to the police ? but without a police report it will not go to DMV , they wouldn't do anything anyways . they would only report something you did like a traffic violation or if you were in a accident that was your fault

If you report it to your insurance they most likely will report it to the DMV.
