My daughter, who is 12, is beginning to back talk, bend the rules her dad and I set and just in general being annoying! I know this can be typical teenager behavior, but I don't know what to do. She is on the phone constantly (4-5 hrs at a time) and then gets on the computer to im her friends. I have to remind her of her chores, but yet she demands to know when she can go to a friends, to the movies, etc... how do I make her understand she is only 12 and not 16?

That's how I was at 12. She's just becoming a teenager so I think her behavior is pretty normal for her age. Just set some ground rules and be firm, yet loving. She'll get the picture soon enough. Good luck!

"Girlology: A Girl's Guide to Stuff that Matters"

Usually I recommend this book to mom's asking how to talk about sex and growing up to their DD's. But I've got to say that the chapters on what's happening as a girl's brain goes through puberty were very informative to ME. Knowing what's going on as she grows and why she's acting the way she is helps immensely in setting limits that are reasonable and not taking her pushing those limits personally. I use that information on a daily basis with my 12 year old DD.

lol, seems like she matured faster than a typical 12 year old. she's just trying to be a teenager, not that there's anything wrong with that. but teach her that she still lives under your roof until she goes to college. but teach her in a nice way. if she's not listening, then maybe take something away from her room. im just saying, itz not like i would do that. itz really up to you. if she obeys u, reward her with something. maybe a movie or a day shopping.

typical teenage behavior, just be strong and don't let her run all over you, but you giver her, her space, and let her hang out but with some restrictions
