Most retrievers like swimming. Some don't. I have a GSD that loves mud and wading in water, but doesn't particularly like to swim. I had a Yorkie that would jump six feet off the end off our motor-sailor to get to the water. If you want a dog that you know swims then I would go to a retriever rescue and ask if they knew that they have a dog that swims, or the ASPCA. It's kind of a hit or miss situation, most dogs will follow their owner anywhere.

Golden retrievers, labs, Spanish water dog, poodles, newfoundlands.

Also some dogs as individuals love to swim. I have a terrier mix who can't get enough of it and her brother won't touch the water.

any and all labs, plus they are great dogs, really smart and loving. one bad thing is they get ear infections cuz of the water so you need to tend to thier ears a lot, but you vet should help you with that
