There is a difference between "rants" and THREATS. I am not familiar with whomever you are speaking about currently. Y-Answers' #1 DON'T on their Guidelines is:
Use Yahoo! Answers as a soapbox to vent your frustrations, rant, or otherwise violate the question and answer format.
The #6 is don't: "Harass, threaten, insult, or behave belligerently towards others."
and #8 is don't: "Post content that violates federal, state, or local law."
If this person is ranting, report him/her for abuse. If this person is THREATENING, report him/her. Certainly, depending upon the "level" of the THREAT or to WHOM the threat is posed (i.e. you cannot threaten the PODUS ... Pres of the US)... because this IS ILLEGAL by federal law.... then you report him/her because he/she is in violation of the federal statues.
If their EMAILS are also containing such content, REPORT HIM/HER, also. Just because the threat is contained inside of an email rather than posted here, does not make the behavior any LESS illegal.
I hope this helps... and I also hope this person ends their "bad behavior." It does not help him/her or anyone else.
Have a great day!

Well, if it were abusive or defamatory, sure.
But if it's just angry...hard to make a case for it.
If it can't be construed as, say, inciting a riot or something, I'm not sure how much the police could do about it.
But then, the police are still way behind on internet crimes...maybe it would.
But would it do any good to tell them? If they're that behind on technology and laws are still lagging, what could they really do?
That's kinda depressing, actually.

I missed something, lol. Now I'll have to go back and do some "reading". I do know that if threats of a certain nature are being made, they would definitely warrant police attention.

I defiantly think that this guy could be a serious threat. People as deranged as him are scary. He has become obsessed and he is obviously very sick. If it were not for the fact of the anonymity
ity of this site I would be very worried about Rachel. I am anyway but I can't imagine that someone as ignorant as him is smart en ought to find anything out, but If I were her I would keep track of all the things he is saying.

if the rant was that bad and enough people reported it. Yes, the police could become involved, but really that would take a while.

Warrant it, yes. Whether they'd actually get it is another matter entirely.
Mind you, they did arrest that kid who decided he was going to make bomb threats at his school... some folks around here ought to watch what they say, they might have the FBI knocking on their doors one of these days.

Nope. Maybe reporting of abuse to Yahoo. If there are threats then yes.
The person does have the right of Freedom of Speach. If the person is ranting then put them on the ignore list.

Probably but there is nothing they can do about it...I mean its freedom of speech. In a couple years that freedom will be taken away. OUr privacy is obsolete (The Patriot Act and this FBI cell phone thing) America is nothing but a fascist country...I'm disappointed in our citizens for putting up with this. Who are we talking about??

Well, I actually think there are several examples of some things police might want to look into. I actually don't know who you're personally referring to, but I've seen some that really tip me off that something might be going on with a pedophile... could be investigated.
Some people are just sick, don't you agree?!
