We as humans would do anything to protect ourselves from harm that was repeatedly done to us. Why shouldn't the Earth do the same thing. What do we as a species have to offer Earth besides death and destruction. What reasons does she have to keep us around?

the Earth does not need us
but we certainly need the earth

cant think of one reason why we have been allowed to turn into a plague ,whilst normally Nature deals with any species that oversteps the Laws of equilibrium

the second law of Nature
everybody is welcome ,but any specie that becomes too much is dealt with by Nature sending predators counter plagues or disease to bring the specie back into equilibrium
but often ending in its extinction

We should be aware that we are not above Natures laws
aklthough it seems that way
we are part of the same systems as the Flora and Fauna are .

You are implying that the Earth is a sentient being and not just a rock bobbing around the sun? We are not destroying the Earth. We might be harming the first tiny little layer of the Earth with a few things we do but we do not have the power to destroy the Earth.

Everyone is under the impression that the earth is dying....on the contrary its thriving...yes we are destroying its many qualities but it has been around since the beginning of time....it will find a way even as we speak....its closest and most powerful companion is the sun...we are doomed to die whether the earth exists or not....there is a tree within your radius that has been standing for over 200 years or better and its roots since time indefinite.....people destroy people not the earth.....
