a good rule of thumb is 3 wks, 1 coming in, 1 ready to stand, and 1 going out. This appies to any and all heats.

The average heat is 3 weeks although this can vary (could be as little at 7 days). This really depends on the dog as they all vary The cycle is every 6 months.

About 3 weeks. However, some dogs are shorter and others are longer than that. I have a Shih Tzu that stays in heat for a little over 4 weeks.

Bitches become sexually mature when they exhibit their first heat period, usually between 6 and 12 months of age, although there is considerable variation. Toy breeds become sexually mature several months earlier than giant breeds. Sexually maturity does not correspond to physical maturity-the attainment of adult height and weight- which generally happens at about 14 months of age. Ovarian activity begins to decline after six years of age and ceases around 10 years of age. By eight years of age, it's marginal. Most bitches are not used for breeding after seven to 8 years of age. Females generally come into heat every 5 to 9 months. The heat cycle is spectific for every individual. Unlike some other animals, the heat cycle in dogs is not controlled by outside influences such as the number of hours of daylight. The estrous, or heat, cycle is divided into 4 stages, each corresponding to the principal hormonal influence governing that stage. The combination of proestrus and estrus, which breeders refer to as the heat period, lasts an average of 21 days.

Doesn't matter if it's the first time or the 10 time it still the same approx. 22 days.

1st time and all other times they are in heat fro 21 days
