The Torah doesn’t prohibit Polygamy, example: Moses had two wives, Abraham had two wives, and Solomon had 700 ungodly wives. Nevertheless, if Jesus did prohibit polygamy, why Judaism, the Mormons, and the Moslems do?

If is not lawful, why Moses, Abraham, David, Abraham did have many WIVES. If God’s prophets did it, why don’t we?

There is no evidence that Jesus ever adressed the issue of polygamy.

As you have already noticed, the Old Testament is replete with evidence that polygamy is just fine with God....

Christians lean more heavily on NT law, however, since they dislike so many of the OT "rules", but several passages in the NT suggest polygamy is still fine and dandy: Matthew 25:1, for example.

Here's a whole website devoted to the notion that polygamy is "Christian"...

Jesus did not prohibit anything; he simple said love your nieghbor like yourself and the whole world/space/time. If Jesus did in fact exist, but that's another question. It was the kings and rulers protecting their wives who presented the idea to not let the average peasant have more than one women. That way he can protect his wives, and make sure the children are his. Of course he could have his relationships with his consenting adult women. From there that control structure embedded itself within certain religions and laws around the world as needed.

The John Smith Mormons did accept more than 1 wife. The Modern LDS Mormons do not. Because they think they are better than the others, and the others think they are better because they keep John's original word. Little do they know that John Smith was a Mason and organized and lay the foundation of the Mormons for social survival of the area, which needed it at the time. Also, Mr Smith read his so called tablets that he bought from an artifact merchant. The ancient text was not american, sorry; it was egyptian and it was about the egyptian God Anubis.. but that is another story.

First of all; Polygamy or Polyamory is not a religion.

There are many people throughout the world and throughout thousands of years of religions and cultures were Polygamy or Polyamory is a normal thing, like going to the movies on a Saturday night. Like going to your local house of worship on a Sunday morning. Like eating breakfast. You don't think about it. It is the traits & beliefs that you have inherited from past generations. If you take the world right now for example. There are 6 Billion people; can you imagine that, we'll try again 6 Billion. Maybe you can't grasp that concept, but we'll go on. There are 300 Million people in the U.S.. Now who thinks all the U.S. citizens are of one track-minded 50's life-style thinking? Not to many, we are all different and should be tolerant of each others life style's etc... Like it or not, there are mormons, white's, blacks, mexican's, catholics, jews, gays, short & tall people, fat and skinny, old & kids, hermits, partners, and polygamists. We can't and should not; want to try ti get rid of them all, lets live with each other, be tolerant, and mind our business.. hehehe...

A better relationship is an honest long term relationship, wether it's with yourself another male or female, or more than two people. As long as it's consenting adults, mind your business. What religion, political party, or relationship orientation are you? Right. Non of your business.

Polyamory and not polygamy; is not for everyone. Just like; being gay, getting married, or even having a partner period; is not for everyone. Now I do not recommend it. It is tough to have and keep one woman, let alone two. You must know that women are very emotional and envious of other women. If it is a relationship of a Man and one or more Women, then the women must; get along. They must be like sisters and support each other till death does them part, if it is a long term relationship. Love is the key. Polyamory is not swinging. There must be a head to the family, it is a family; even a couple, just two people whether a male/female - gay/gay whatever, needs a lead. It does not matter if it is the male or female who is dominant, one must take the head. It is a compromise, a negotiation. There must be rules. Of course as a Man, you must first woo one woman first, and invite her to your idea. This idea must be with absolute truth to your intentions. After that, then you may look for the second conquest. It is what it is, a romantic conquest of the heart. With the second women you must also be very truthful from the beginning. Many women will shy from it and will express their disinterest, others will look into it and may have already have contemplated these options. As long as a Man can keep, afford, satisfy (without becoming a *****), and love both women and keep a conscious focus on the delegation of attention for each women, it could last forever. It is a very rare relationship, very complex; but possible, with the right people, the right time, and adequate preparation.

Polygamy's not so much a Christian issue, I'm thinking, as a cultural one.

I might be mistaken, but Jesus never said anything about the matter. If anything's said of it in the New Testament, I suspect it won't be in the four books purported to be written by those who ever knew Jesus when he was alive.

Read Matthew 6-8 to see what Jesus had to say about marriage. I'm pretty sure the exact passage is in Matthew 7, but I'm not 100% sure.

No He did not...... It is prudent to be the husband of one wife and He did call us to obey the laws of the land which call for one man one woman marrage.

1 Timothy 3:2
Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,

1 Timothy 3:12
A deacon must be the husband of but one wife and must manage his children and his household well.

Titus 1:6
An elder must be blameless, the husband of but one wife, a man whose children believe and are not open to the charge of being wild and disobedient.

Titus 3
1Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, 2to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men.

No it does not go against the bible to have many wives.. But the bible is very clear that you should obey the laws of the land that you live in.. And if the law of the land says one wife then you are obligated to obey those laws...................................... And I would not become a Mormon just so that you can... For they have rules and laws that you are also required to follow that may be even harder to follow then you know..................................................................
