I need to check online the postal rate for a package. My box is rectangular. The measurement of the three "sides" are 18", 17.5", and 9". The web site asks me to enter height, width, and length and I don't know which is which. Help!!!

Long side 18" is length:
17.5" is the width
9" is the height.
Good way to tell which is the height. The open ends or the top and bottom and measuring the distance between them will give you the height.
The longest side will be the length,
The shortest side will be the width.

Length is from side to side..usually the longest dimension (18").
Width is from front to back..usually the 2nd longest (17.5")
Height is from the floor to the top of the package..the shortest (9").

again, it doesnt really matter -- especailly since we dont really know the way the box is oriented.
However, if i was to think of this as a "regular" rectangular box i would guess it to be 18" length
17.5" height
9" width

You can put the numbers in any order you want, the internal computer just wants 3 numbers entered to calculate the size of the package.

Doesn't matter. All they want to know is the over all size and that one side isn't over i believe around 80 inches.
If you don't want to take my word for it test it a couple times changing around the placements you will always get the same price :)

It doesn't matter. You can choose the dimensions in any way. It doesn't mtter what you call them. I'm sorry to hear that your box is rectangular. Ouch.

You have the top
Height is the distance from the floor to the top
Width is the distance from front to back.
Length is the distance of the one side to the other.
