I want to catch what i think are catfish in a creek behind my house. I've used ham to catch fish in a pond once. it worked.

Yes but they like worms a lot. I will tell you my secret for catching catfish. Throw dry dog food or cat food out by hand. After a while they will come to the surface and eat. Throw it closer and closer to shore until they are close. At this point, as submerged net can be lifted and you can just pull them up!
They like coming out early in the morning the best....just after sunrise. You can also use stinkbate and chicken livers or small fish...even hot dogs. Good luck.

Catfish will eat just about anything with a desirable taste and odor. Ham isn't a bad choice, raw meats work best most of the time but you just never know with catfish. What they like to eat changes from time to time and day to day. You're best to take ham along with a arsenal of other baits (conventional or unconventional) and switch between all of them from time to time until you find out what they're in the mood for. If they don't take the ham don't assume they won't ever take the ham... I've used left over Easter ham and even raw bacon with decent success.
Although where you drop these baits is probably your biggest factor in bites. If you're dropping great bait where there are no cats then you won't be pulling in any cats.

I dont see why they wouldn't eat it. It may not be the best bait for catfish, but they will eat anything.
I found out once that marshmallows on a trot line was actually a good bait for channel cat along with other fish such as drum and hybrid bass in North Texas lakes.

i have caught catfish on everything from chewed bubblegum, unfinished ham sandwiches,to soffened up dog food.good luck

like everyone else has said, catfish will eat ANYTHING. If you will eat it, chances are catfish will eat it lol. I have caught catfish w/ chicken liver, worms, minnows, hot dog weiner's, u name it.. lol

Catfish will eat just about anything with a "stink" to it that you can get on a hook.

catfish will eat almost any thing. we have caught them on rubber worms and minnos before.it should work.
