It tends to work. And who ever said that a fight is fair. Do you use this tenchnique? I fended off an angry attacker solely by a "nut shot"......I plan to keep using this technique.

Let's be clear: sparring has rules, fighting doesn't.

In sparring, the groin is off-limits for obvious reasons (which begs the question, why did you even post this question?).

In fighting, nothing is off-limits. Do you fight to fight, or fight to win? Puh-leeze.

I teach that I want you to come to class tomorrow and tell us that your training paid off.

Within a sports setting, yes, it's a dirty tactic. Sports fights are intended to be as fair as possible.

Groin hits can cause serious damage; hence, it's best reserved for self-defense/combat. And within that context, I would not consider it "dirty" fighting at all.

In the proverbial "street fight," anything goes-- most people who get into a street fight aren't interested in fighting fair anyway.

I've used the groin shot only once-- when my brother bonked my head into the hardwood floor, I got angry and elbowed him there. (I know, it's not very mature. But on the plus side, he never tried a stunt like that again.)

The only people who think that is dirty are A)people in professional fighting sports, or B) people who have never been in a fight. The "nut punch" would not be my first move in every situation, but if I am going to get hurt otherwise, you bet your *** I will use it. Protect yourself by any means necessary (this does not mean use guns people, now that is dirty fighting)

I went for the groin in a fight and then I went for the eye.I was not playing around,I would have taken the eye out.I would have taken the scrotum pouch right off of him.
Thinking about clean and dirty will get you killed.
This guy has not come close enough to fight me since then.
Any fight these days goes from 0-90mph right from the start.
There is no such thing as a fair fight on the streets.
It took a long time for me to get that through to my head.
People will maim you for fun,it is true.

There are no rules in fighting per say and you can think about it and all that is involved once you are safe at home afterwords. You can bet the other person, if they attack you, is probably not going to let it concern them doing it to you or much worse possibly in the least.

It is OK to use in a very serious situation (like jetting jumped or if you fear for your life), but not in a straight up fight between 2 people. There should be a code of honor if 2 people are fighting straight up. Groin shots are a cowardly way out, and can cause lifelong damage.

it is the most painful place to be hit ( welll for a guy). It will bring the opponent down very easily and hard for them to defend themselves temporarily

I don't consider this to be dirty at all, I consider it to be just another target.

There's no such thing as "dirty" in fighting, fighting is fighting, period.

there's just some places you don't hit...

only use it if you are in danger of getting hurt.
