He has no signs of being sick. His litter is fresh & clean. He has food. He isn't bored, there are other cats & toys to play with.

But he will not stop crying. It's almost constant. He just walks around crying, 7am is the worse because he comes in our room crying, again, for no known reason.

He doesn't seem to want to go outside, he's been indoors his whole life & shows no interest in going out. Even if he did, we are surrounded by large dogs in the neighborhood so I'd have to worry about what would happen to him.

But I'm seriously just my wits end. I love my cats, but I can't find him just walking around, crying, at all hours. Anyone else have a crying cat? If so, any tips? Could he be sick? I hate the idea of going to the vet, spending $500 in test, then being told nothing is wrong.

I'm open to any suggestions, ideas, or expierences. Thanks.

We've had him about a year, he was about 7 weeks old when we got him. He was never an outdoor cat, always indoor, even before we got him

He isn't in pain. If he were in pain I doubt he would be as active as he is & eating healthy as he does.

He cries when we hold him. Cries if we don't. No tears, just the sound. He's never really liked cat nip, altough we do have some catnip toys, among the other toys, climbing toys, & scratching toys. He grew up with other cats (2 others) & he plays with them well, isn't like he is bored. He just has periods several times a day of crying non-stop & walking around looking at us or coming in our bedroom to cry at night or early in the morning.

He's not in heat, he was fixed around last November (I think that was when). This crying thing didn't start until around April.

No hearing problems. He still answers to his name in a normal voice & responds to any & all sounds. He can hear a can of cat food being open when he's upstairs.

The age and how long you've had the kitty would be relevant information to provide. Crying do you mean out loud or tears from his eyes? Sounds like he could be a new addition that used to be an outdoor cat and is now adjusting to indoors. It could take some time. Some will never adjust fully. Does he have a scratching post to take out his aggressions and frustration? He could be sick also but I haven't met him. Some cats do not like closed interior doors. He needs something. Is he happy during the day? Kitties love catnip. Kitties like pampering. Think ancient Egypt. They were revered as Gods. From my experience you need to make an offering. Get to know your kitty. He will soon be able to communicate his needs to you. Your question begs for more details. I'll check back.
Take care.

Mabe it is lonely. try spending more time alone with it or give it a personel cat toy. Or mabe your cat is the kind that likes catnip. Some do not. It could not like the litter tipe or not like the food. mabe it does not like the other cats. My cats have been together for years and still fight. or mabe it wants to go outdoors. My cat is a super trublemaker and he still comes back. Try going out with it for a while. One time my cat Cookie got stuck in the air vent! TE HE HE HE HE!

It wasn't till one of ours started yelling at the top of his voice unexpectedly that we found out he'd gone deaf--he couldn't hear us and he couldn't hear himself so he yelled.

The vet found nothing wrong with his ears, but his hearing is completely gone (he's 15 but doesn't show it). I'm wondering if your cat is loosing his hearing from something and is trying to figure out what's wrong rather than adjust to it.

You can try doing some tests. If he's got his eyes closed, try clapping your hands near him but not so near that he feels the air from it. See if his ears are sephamoring (moving to focus on sound) or if they're always the same even with noise going on. Call your vet and ask what tests you can do to see if your cat has lost significant portions of his hearing. It may be the upper register sounds missing, or lower sounds, or both.

It obviously bothers him--whatever it is---and he's not happy about it. You'll have to play detective here.

your cat is probly in heat. if you get him fixed or spayed he will never do it again. he is just calling for another cat that will make babies with him. it will only go on for about a week or two every month, pet him more and try to make him feel more comfortable or but another cat.

Maybe he is in heat. They tend to cry a lot. Or, it could be something more serious. Take him to the vet you don't want him to be in pain if you are a true cat lover.
