No. I seek it... especially from people whom I respect and love (of which there are quite a few).

However, I usually won't compromise my values to gain approval. If people approve of me for being true to myself, that makes me feel validated... and encourages me to be even more true to my inner feelings.

It seems to me that the more I love and approve of myself, the less fear I have of disapproval.

The oxy-moron of all this is that I usually love and approve of myself more when other people approve of me. So....

You can help someone to be freed from the need for approval by approving of them (just as they are). So, here I am, teaching myself that if I want children who will value their own judgements, and not "follow the crowd" I need to approve of them and value them for being themselves.

Pretty much, yeah. At least within the scope of this section. I don't need anyone's approval, validation, or permission to follow my religious path.

Yes, if you mean the need of approval from 'men'. I seek only to be worthy in God's eyes. "Friends with the world is enmity to God.'
