I downloaded a thousand pack of fonts but each family of fonts is in its own zip folder. Do I have to unzip each of the thousand zip folders seperatley before i can put them into the fonts folder in controll panel? Hey and it gets even worse! within each zip folder is a .rar folder so if i have to do it manually it will entail unzipping a total of 1000 zip's and 1000 rar's which could take a lifetime. What do i do? and why the hell are the fonts compressed to this extent? HELP!

ok great advice on the "too many fonts is bad for the pc" front, but i still cant unzip more than one zipfolder at a time. right click will allow me to put all the zips into one big zip folder and and do any one of a number of things with the folder such as email it archive it etc. but there is nothing that allows me to unpack them together. and that goes for winrar as well

I've just done a search for a Batch Unzipper and found one at the following site.

I haven't tried it, but it claims to do what you want ... unzip multiple files in one go.

It's called DzMultiU v1.0, and it's at the foot of the first page.

It doesn't, however, claim to be able to deal with Rar files.

Windows used to have a problem when you installed too many fonts. I know someone that had the Adobe Font Pack and installed them all at once which crashed their Windows installation. They could not boot into Windows anymore. There are font manager applications for things like this. A commercial product is Extensis Suitcase which works very well, but has a price. There are some alternatives, free of charge, that could be found with a google search for font managers. With these, you'll have to investigate each until you find the one that is best suited for you.

just unzip them into one folder and copy into fonts folder
you can select all you zip files und unzip them at once
windows font folder: C:\WINDOWS\Fonts
but I gotta warn you, the more fonts are in that folder , the slower your computer will be
its best to use some font management software
so you can activate them when you need them
I use font expert 2006

Are you setting up the fonts in the fonts folder of homestead windows(administration Panel > fonts)? Photoshop sees despite fonts are in that folder. additionally, in case you intend on setting up a great number of fonts, i might recommend you get a font organizer like Extensis Suitcase because of the fact filling up that font folder will lag your laptop.

you just select them all right click on them and choose: UNPACK (or whatever it is that it says) HERE. 2 mins operation unless you are on a pentium II.
Then copy them and paste them into your windows FONT folder that should be in the CONTROL PANEL
that-is-it-mate

ps: they are compressed so as to save space.
ps: as the guy above me said, perhaps go easy installing 1000 fonts in one go, use common sense.
