Using any connection you might have to land her a good job.

For gift giving follow these few rules based on the person's individual likes, personality and needs:

A college graduate would need items that will help them in the next phase of their life like money, apartment furnishings, something related to their job, etc. Because their needs vary, money is the best gift.

Gift certificates are always good but the pre-loaded credit cards are even better. While its still a form of money, it gives them the chance to buy something they want or need while you still the credit. They will remember you as the giver of the card, and also when they view the item purchased with the card.

Most stores sell gift certificates and the pre-loaded American Express, Visa, Mastercards are available almost anywhere.

Money is always appropriate. New grads need cash for clothes, etc (for interviews).

Also- gift cards. You can get them at favorite stores so you know they will be used.

If you know the 'majors' or the degrees, you may be able to find appropriate gifts- for example, if the grad is a Business major, you may want to consider a nice pen and pencil set.

If the grad is a teacher, a gift card to a teacher supply store or a business supply store like OfficeMax will help a new teacher stock his/her classroom.

If the grad is in Nursing, a gift card to a store that caters to nurses would be nice. There is a store like that in a mall near where I live. The store has smocks, shoes and other items nurses and techs need.

Alcohol! ( I know I could have used a nice stuff drink after I slept for a week after graduating)

Seriously, I would consider getting her a gift card for a clothing store. If she doesn't have a job already, shes more than likely going to have to start the interview process. And good interview clothes can be important.

If that's too practical, taking her out to dinner, because I bet she has more free time now (and something besides ramen to eat is always appreciated). Or maybe a spa treatment, to help get rid of all that graduation stress, in a way thats more healthy than booze.

How about a gift card to a favorite store or restaurant? They can use them whenever they like, and you can control the amount. Fifty dollars each would be appropriate.

Why no longer circulate with him? Take him procuring, help him p.c.. out appropriate outfits and then pay for it. yet undergo in recommendations that many organization places of work are organization casual now so gown pants and shirts are the norm over organization suits. An interview experience remains mandatory (doubles as a experience he can placed directly to weddings, funerals, etc), yet something of the clothing are extra casual. Exceptions are for regulation places of work or Wall street corporations.

I agree. Money is the most useful thing to give. They'll have plenty of things to buy for their first job and money's good everywhere.
