My question may be for a specialised mechanical engineer in rotary equipments who can answer to it exactly. I wished to know the relation between the bearing number and the dimensions of anti friction bearings like ball bearing and roller bearing. Thank you.

*Yes, it is like that.
*Actually its a vast subject to compile all here. You can visit some useful link and brouse relevant aspects:

*Its differ from manufactures to manufacturers.
*Click on the following link and brain storm your logic , you will get the answer:
http://www.gobearings.com/catalog/6200serieso.htm
[bearing id=5*last 2 digit of a bearing number. (applicable after 03 as a last 2 digit.
For example,
6204 is a medium duty , ball bearing having [04*5]=20mm inside diameter.
If there is a suffix like zz , then it is a sealed bearing from both ends.

There is a relationship, but I couldn't speak to that off the top of my head. I'm also not certain that it would be the same system for EVERY manufacturer, but any major manufacturer would explain how their part numbers relate to bearing dimensions in their catalogue.

The first brand name that came to mind at the mention of ball or roller bearings is NSK, and when I've had occasion to identify bearings for projects, I have found that their system is generally similar to some of the other major manufacturers.

I'm providing a link below to their online ball bearing catalogue. Look at page 4 and it explains their bearing numbers for single row deep groove ball bearings.

I'd recommend searching for bearings to find other manufacturers, or if you want more about NSK go to www.nsk-corp.com

If you are referring to like a 3406 bearing or a 3602 bearing. There is a relationship. All 3406 bearing have the same i.d the same o.d and the same width. the same goes to the 3602 bearing all them will have the same i.d. same o.d and same width. Which is a standard way of sizing bearings.

Then you have some companies that use different numbering system to size their bearings such a Falk bearing they use only three numbers as a rule. So as an expample a 3205 bearing will have a Falk number of 205.

But as for being able to say this like in a 3404 bearing that 3 means 3" i.d and 4" means o.d. Not you will have to get a bearing chart for that. Every bearing company has size charts that gives you the measurements of their bearings

Does that answer your question?

Who made the bearing what is the number? You don't have to be a "specialized mechanical engineer" to know this question haha

All you have to do is go to the company website and look it up. Most the time first couple numbers are the type/class, next are the id, last will be what type of case(rubber/steel/open)
