Yes, you can, provided you are a US citizen or resident and reside in the USA. The most important requirements are that you have a zeal for power and enjoy daily shots of adrenaline! (laughs) Please see:

No, but you have to be a legal permanent resident of the US. Which in itself is not very easy to achieve in todays climate.

The onus is on you to prove yourself to be currently worthy of this (and not somone who is either going to leech or worse). The fact you intend to join the army is not likely to do much in the way of convincing in this regard.

As above, the two organisations you need to speak to are the US embassy, to establish in principal exactly what they want and the US army - to establish what support they might be able to give you. With regard to the latter if you have special qualifications they may be much more inclined to help you out.

If you are serious about this - you need to be pretty clear why! You will be asked it numerous times, not least by immigration and army officials. What is so special about the US army / police that makes them so much more attractive than the UK's?

Personally, unless there are some pretty substantial external reasons (i.e. you are moving there with a partner etc.) I wouldn't bother with the hassel and stick to the UK. Its a nicer country anyway!

US citizenship is not required. You must be a legal permanent resident of the US. You would also have to meet the same requirements as a US citizen. Personally, I think serving in the military should allow you to become a citizen with less effort than others.

To join the army, you need to be a US permanent resident (or have claim to it). Police/FBI/customs you do need to be a US citizen for security reasons.

You can request a certain military occupational specialty [MOS], but you may not get it. That is the way it is in the miloitary, they assign you to where they need you.

Start by moving to the States, then stay 'squeaky clean' for a few years, and then just maybe....they might have you....one way or another.
