If you really NEED a drink, do not stop all together, you can have a seizure. But if you really don't have the will power, at least try to cut down a little. Slow the drinks down more and more each day. After a while you shouldn't even have the urge to pick up a drink. (or 10) Also, rehab will help you a lot. If you really want to help yourself, and I'm assuming you do because you posted the question, you have to start somewhere. Rehab helped me a lot. I really didn't stop drinking all together at first, but it helped me realize I didn't have to have 10 drinks in order to have a good time, or any drink for that matter.

Its good that u realise u have a problem, and your probably coming on here for some support and answers as to what do to. But the fact is, you need to get out there and get it sorted. Nothings goin to be resolved on a computer.
People that drink don't see the damage theyre doing to their liver, so, other than feeling groggy in the morning, they can forget the fact that theyre doing masses of damage to their health.
Not trying to scare you, but you've already said you get black-outs...things need to stop, before they get much worse.
AA meetings can be very intimidating, so i can understand why you don't want to go.
Im sure there are some helplines you can ring, if you do a bit of online research.
