in regards to the first responder to your question, jack daniels is NOT bourbon. to be bourbon, it must be made with a very specific recipe in a very specific region of kentucky (JD is made in tennessee). anything made outside the region is just whiskey.
sort of like champagne. it's only champagne if it's made within that specific region of france. everything else is just sparkling wine.
i'm a huge bourbon fan. it's much easier to drink than whiskey and has a much more robust flavor. my favorite is maker's mark. ancient age is also very good. most bourbon is rather inexpensive because it isn't trendy like rum or vodka. because it's inexpensive it gets a bad rap as being a sort of second tier liquor.
it's what old money like to drink. i'm keeping my fingers crossed some lame rap star doesn't use it in a video so my $30 bottle of bourbon suddenly becomes an $80 bottle of bourbon and they start infusing it with mango juice and papaya to make it more palatable to people with weak gullets.

Ive consumed whiskey over the years and dont prefer any brand--to me its all good. Just buy the kind you like and can afford. Try some new ones if you havent decided yet.

Try Jim Beam and George Dickel. I really don't like Jack. It's all in what you like.
