We wouldn't be together for 20 years if we didn't consider one another as equal human beings.

And then they throw Biblical verses... but they seem to forget some. It says a man is supposed to submit to his wife as well. In Genesis it claims that he made Eve as a helpmate... a Helper... not someone to be considered as "weaker" (we're not talking physical strength here either) but as Equal. On the other hand, there are women out there that completely agree with that idea of being totally submissive and allowing the husband take the lead... that is their right to do so. But it's totally ridiculous to try to use the Bible to "put a woman in her place" when the men saying these things aren't the Husband to begin with. No woman has to submit to ANY man just because he can quote verses or uses the Bible to show authority. Because nowhere does the Bible give men who are Strangers authority over women just because he has something in his pants women don't. Physical gender doesn't give authority. It just means they can stand up and put out a camp fire and we can't.
So, those women can agree with him. But that doesn't give him any more authority than what he had before over this situation... which is absolutely none. Popularity, or having others agree with you do not make you right. *wink*

Real men dont want robots... real wholehearted men want a woman that they can discuss situations with... that they can be on the same platform with... that they can SHARE a life with... not hold down... and it is ur personal expirence of being held down by a guy, then u gneed to find a real man... we're not all like that... that's kinda like saying all women are exobitionists... i know a lot of females that jkust want a good guy... and for those ladies who date the "hot" guy and dont really care about how he acted... u need to drop ur view of a man from the outside... because there are some "lesser endowed" men out in the world that will treat you right... so keep ur head up and keep looking...

Actually, a Godly marriage is where both people do their best to serve the other. When both people put the other persons needs before their own, when both people live to please the other, their love will always be new and forever growing.
There is no room for selfishness or ego's in a marriage.
As a couple, first serve God in all things, then live to serve each other. If any men have trouble understanding this, consider this: Our children and our home, are the most important things to us in this lifetime, besides our faith in Christ Jesus. Who did God designate to be in charge of these most important things? The things we love and cherish most, the things most dear to us, the things that bring us the most joy and happiness in this life, God has put women in charge of. God Bless All

The Bible told them to do it so they do it...so since Christians all believe in the Bible, then they should allow their husbands complete control over them, and then the women shouldn't have jobs, or anything like that, since it's in the Bible (after Adam and Eve ate the Fruit, God punished them with stuff, Eves punishment was to follow her husband ((or something like that)) )
EDIT- I do NOT believe that, I am an Atheist and I believe that all women should have equal rights, my gf and I BOTH worship the ground we walk on and we both love each other, having a robot as a gf or life-partner would be the most boring thing ever. I completely agree with the questioner, I'm no fundie or Christian even, I'm just telling you the reason why some women do that.

My husband worships the ground I walk on and I'm very appreciative of that. The feelings mutual. I don't understand why any woman would agree with 777.

Bowing ? No! In subjection, yes. There is a big difference.

Everything in the universe is organized. This includes God's organization, Jesus' followers, and the family unit. Even ordinary businesses follow an organization pattern.

The head of the family is the husband. He is responsible to Christ for his actions. He is to treat his wife "as a weaker vessel...as he would himself." This in no way means lording it over the family, but is a loving way to bring order to the family. (1Peter 3:1-9)

I do not know because he husband needs the wife and not only that, she is smarter than many think; and she is considerate and loving and all that the Bible says a woman is to be. Bow down to me, a male,

PLEASE.

I owe my wife more than anyone can know.

Thats crazy man. My wife is kind of a big wheel in her company. I have however a rather low end job so I take care of ya know cleaning cooking etc. Works great for us. A completely equal partnership really. I dont think I would like it any other way. Sad when folks think that one should have more power than another.

It is awful, and something I can not understand. Why would anyone ever be happy being considered second class citizens.

I was raised in a strict Baptist home and up until college I remained a fundamentalist but never once did I take that subservient mindset. It boggles my brain that women willingly let men control them.

You ask this question in R/S room? I've asked my wife as to why she never argues with me concerning the running of the household, her answer was totally biblical. "I have come to understand that you are right 99% of the time, and when you mess up, you kill yourself at fixing the problem. Since I let you lead the household, I don't have to stress out over the bills and such, all I have to do is take care of the kids and love my family." She doesn't "bow" to me, she lets me do what God designated me to do. Thats why I have a happy wife and kids, I take care of their material and physical needs so they don't have to worry about such things. The curse in most marriages is when the women believe they are smarter or better than thier husbands and then proceeds to verbally castrate thier husbands. Of course this is all dependant on husbands who conduct themselves like a real man, a real husband, a real father.
