The main causes of dandruff are impairment of general health, development of a toxic condition mainly due to taking of wrong foods, constipation, and a low vitality due to infectious diseases. The use of fenugreek seeds is one of the most important remedies in the treatment of dandruff. Two tablespoons of these seeds should be soaked overnight in water and ground into a fine paste in the morning. This paste should be applied all over the scalp and left for half an hour. The hair should then be washed thoroughly with soap-nut (ritha) solution or shikakai.
The use of a teaspoon of fresh lime juice for the last rinse, while washing the hair, is another useful remedy. This not only leaves the hair glowing but also removes stickiness and prevents dandruff.
Beets have been found useful in dandruff. Both tops and roots should be boiled in water and this water should be massaged into the scalp with the finger tips every night. White beet is better for this purpose.

1] quit using all other hair products
2] buy Neutrogena TSal , or the drugstore equivolent [ read ingredient amounts ]
3] massage scalp before shampooing, then comb or brush thoroughly.
4] wet hair. Apply 25 to cent piece size shampoo to hands, and rub slightly to spread. Shampoo scalp vigorously, with pads of fingers only. Do not 'pile' hair up on head - this will create more tangles. Shampoo only on scalp, not strands: the lather will wash them clean. Rinse.
5] repeat shampoo, and rinse twice as much as you think you need to.
6] blot hair dry with towel, do not rub: wet hair is fragile, and breaks easily.
7] let hair air dry
8] Scrub all combs, brushes, whatever you use on hair - to get all dried products and dirt out.
9] comb out tangles with a wide toothed comb. NEVER brush wet hair - it will break and split!
10] enlist an assistant. Part hair into 1 or 2 inch squares, a section at a time, add rub a small [ pearl sized ] dab of vaseline into the squares all over head. This will loosen the stubborn flakes on your head. Do all over head, paying more attention to flaky spots.
10] your hair will look slimy. Stay home!
11] leave on 12 to 24 hours - use shower cap to sleep in.
12] shampoo again, same routine. Lather and rinse twice.
13] Shampoo every 1- 2 days until dandruff under control - apply very small dabs of vaseline to 'scaly' areas; do full treatment once a week if necessary.
14] avoid fried, fast, and junk food - even diet junk food.
Use good oils [ olive, canola, omega three fish oil, flaxseed
oil ] in salad dressings
15] take a good multivitamin with minerals everyday [ helps me a lot, no matter what my diet is ]
16] drink 1/2 gallon of water a day
17] do some aerobic exercise for 30 minutes at least three times a week [ will help heart, lungs, hair, and skin too! ]
If no improvement after one week of ALL treatment, see a doctor - may need prescription meds or shampoo.
