Though I don't believe that living the gay lifestyle is a good choice, and believe it is certainly a choice (or result of confusion/pain in one's life - I saw the study of hamsters turning gay due to stress & overpopulation) -
I care about the people who are in that lifestyle.
Yes, I want them to have "nearest of kin" rights in
hospitalization, for example.
No, I don't want to be censored, fined or sued (against freedom of speech) for saying in public that I disapprove of
the lifestyle and would like them to try.
I also don't want my child taught to say, "There's nothing
wrong with the gay life style." They can say, "Though I
don't approve of their lifestyle, I care about them as humans."
ok - what about gay marriage? Marriage is sacred, yet we as society take it for granted as it is, by and large - perhaps
no more gov't marriage licences - just a statement of
"closest relation" to protect rights? What do you think?
I don't know how to solve adoption rights...

Marriage is essentially a legal contract between two people - if a reverend, priest or whomever marries a person who doesn't not have the proper paperwork then no matter what the couple are not married. Some people just choose to have a religious ceremony to go along with the paperwork.
This is a human rights issue and the only area in which people knowingly advocate discrimination despite the fact it is ~against the law~. Our society has for many years decided to turn a blind eye to that. In the 21st century it is high time discrimination was put to an end.
Marriage licenses will never be gotten rid of because the government machine needs it's paperwork - bureaucracies don't work without them. Also, if it was gotten rid of, who is to say some more ultra-conservatives in society wouldn't just get themselves in office and use the fact that there are no more marriage licenses to discriminate against anyone who isn't "their" kind.
Adoption is left up to the particular state or private facility. Not even all heterosexual couples meet their standards. If a couple, no matter of gender, meets the standards then they should be allowed to adopt.

Give gay people equal rights. Whether they are gay by choice or by birth shouldn't make a difference (although I believe it's not a choice). Where there is a double-standard, regarding something as harmless as marriage, then the double-standard needs to be eliminated. Whether or not there is something wrong with a gay lifestyle can be debated until we're blue in the face, but there's no question that double standards are wrong.

Here is my stand on the matter... I am neither for nor against it as I can see both sides views... Although I am not religious that doesn't make me have bad morals or any less of a person. I think that gays should have the right to get married. Even though you may not agree with it isn't religion about giving people the choice to choose right or wrong so that they can truly be judged in the end? If you don't believe in it then don't do it... Surely thats not the worse thing wrong in todays world...

The best way to solve the "gay rights issue " is to allow them to have the rights that the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment of The US Constitution already gives them.
Gay Rights are a Civil Rights issue and if you want the Freedom of Religion,Speech ,Press and Public Assembly that the First Amendment grants you then you also have to allow gay people to have the civil rights protections that the 14th Amendment grants them.
On another note : You do realize that the basis of Western Civilization is a culture that openly practiced homosexuality don't you.? Maybe they should teach your kids that in school also.

Everyone should have the same rights. Period. That's how we create peace. Sexuality isn't an issue either, it's an issue if you make it an issue. I wish we'd stop defining sexuality altogether, it just creates divisions that aren't necessary. Just by saying 'I don't agree with your lifestyle but I care about you' still gives the message that you find yourself superior to them. It's really not the right path to go down. I realize your making an effort but it's not with an completely open heart or mind. Blessings

below our shape does it say you in simple terms have particular rights because of fact of sexuality? the only reason marriage is so "sacred" is as a results of the non secular historic past that we positioned on it. I completedly understand what you advise yet with immediately human beings throwing the "sacred" marriage to the wind on a daily basis, what could injury permitting gays to marry. Is it that immediately persons are apprehensive that the powerful marriage cost between gays could be greater than straights? In united statesa. we are meant to have freedoms that different international places don't have, yet our tolerance point for brand spanking new and a number of of alternative issues is narrow. How will we improve as individuals for freedom, for lifestyles and liberty, and a greater society if we won't open our minds to a number of the main effortless suggestions. additionally, how can our authorities. say who has the main suitable to marry while it fairly is a "non secular" theory and yet they choose " In God We believe" off our money?! commonplace, in my view you mustn't be any distinctive from the different American or have any distinctive American rights in simple terms because of fact your gay!

Big of you. Marriage is sacred. What bull. In the U.S., it is a civil arrangement, which is easily broken. If you don't want to be homosexual, then don't. When did you decide to choose a heterosexual lifestyle? Are you really that illogical? What is wrong with you, you bigot.

Marriage is so sacred that interracial marriage has only been legal in all fifty states for 7 years.
Some day your grand-grandkids will be as proud of you as you are of those who passed laws against interracial marriage.

The Bible says that homosexuality is a sin. this country was founded on the Judeo- Christian Values. therefore it is wrong.
With that said, they are God's creation as well, and deserve to be treated with dignity and respect like anyone else.
They have the same rights as anyone else. Civil rights.
But when it comes to adoption - would you want your kids going to a home (even for an overnight visit) that doesn't believe or practice your values?
Marriage is for men and women. that is the way it is practiced in the Bible.
